I would search for flat heeled espadrilles.

I was just going to say that ^^^! I googled flat walking espadrille but didn't see anything with that type of sole. Then I remembered JBU/Jambu shoes but don't have time to go searching - try that.

edit - thought of another brand to check - Propet.

I think the definition of espadrille is having a woven grassy type sole. super cute but not the look I'm going for. the ones I want have a rubber sole that's not chunky.

Propet sandals are too orthopedic looking. I also tried Born and Toms but no dice. (but thanks for reminding me of Propet, I just noticed they have some cute boots I must check out later!) Born has some that are close, but I wish the heel area was closed.

when I say "to be able to walk a mile", I don't mean orthopedic. (I can walk ten miles in orthopedic shoes, haha.) looking for something with a slightly more dainty rubber sole kind of like Allbirds or these Bass flats, but in closed-toe sandal form.

yeah, I saw those! they're definitely the closest match I found so far, but they're out of size 9. everywhere. :( if they go on sale, I'd be willing to dye them. I've done it before.

The sole style is close to the same as my Flexx Band Together sandal (my fav for walking) but I couldn't find a shoe like the one pictured.

Eileen Fisher has had similar styles in the past-- i just checked the site and it looks like they are just bringing in fall shoes and don't have the style yet.

Eld, the sites with those beige shoes -- those are the type of retail sites that dropship from China. the shoes look cute in the photo, but I have little confidence in their quality.

these kinds of websites are popping up everywhere. one of the biggest clues is the fact that the same exact product pics are used on different websites. and if you look closer, many of these sites use the same web template but just put a different name at the top.

these sites are notorious for having cheap low quality items, almost always from China, and usually take weeks or months to ship.

SeattleMCM, i also love EF clothes-- well, i love the pieces I love. Not all styles work well for me. I know the prices can be high but I have had good luck with sales. No restore here-- and honestly the prices on her recycled merino and cashmere sweaters are out of bounds for me-- but I love the concept.

My shoes are about 5-7 yr old and are still in great shape-- and i am hard on shoes! I definitely think if you can find a pair you like at a decent price, it's worth it. Too many shoes look ratty after a season or two. What I love about my shoes is that they look elegant but are as comfortable as a slipper. I can't wear heels so these have been my go-to for dressier fall/winter events-- and they also worked for more casual events and the office (when i went to the office!)

Check out ebay and poshmark-- both have numerous styles, many NIB. Here's the pair i have on Poshmark for $25 (I paid $198 for mine). They are used but look pristine-- not pushing my style on you-- i know it's not the maryjane style you are looking for-- but using it as an example of the kind of deals/prices you could find in a style you like.

ETA: EF shoes have a reputation for running narrow. I have a slightly wide foot and had no issues with fit in this shoe or her boots.

I actually really like the way that ankle strap is designed on your shoes. I don't like a lot of mary jane styles anymore -- or at least not the kind with a strap across the instep. but I do love it when there's an ankle strap like yours. it looks more sophisticated somehow.

it's super random that I have a Renew store in my neighborhood. it's not even a major shopping district, there's only just a handful of tiny retail stores. lucky me!
