You're in a rental and you're not obligated to do anything. If you want, ask the property management company to ask the homeowner. If there's no property management company, ask the homeowner in an email to document their response. You can use it but you're not required to. I would document how the countertops look now and then while using the product of your choice or that the homeowner suggests. A landlord can't require you to use specific products unless they provide it. It doesn't matter that the landlord suggests something wrong for the surface, you're not obligated to make or evaluate their decision. If they say use Soft scrub and you do, by your choice, and it damages it it's not your fault (hence documenting the conversation).

We're in a rental and the homeowner wanted us to use a specific floor cleaner which required me to buy a mop and pay more.out of pocket for their preference s I've used Swiffer in the past. I said, I'll use it if you buy it and the mop. They didn't think they should so I use a Swiffer and the flooring looks hazy. Bad on them. I use Method in their countertops and they were upset wanting something else. Ok buy it for me. No they wouldn't. Ok I'll use Method then.

@Jen K (7b, 8a) thanks! I'm sure they would be fine providing the SoftScrub if we needed, but we already had it so purchasing the item was not an issue! We're happy to get whatever will work. Moreso just wanting to find the product that will properly clean and not damage this specific countertop. Was the Method or their preferred cleaner for Silestone? An earlier commenter recommended a different product, but I can't find it for sale anymore.
