I think sometimes it comes to luck of the draw. I have an old builders grade unit from comformaker, who I never heard of and it's lasted fine. I'm about to replace it and run up against the same issue as you. I've researched a lot and found there probably isn't a whole lot of difference in reliability in most of the major brands. So I ended up sorting out by features. I've concluded that Carrier or Bryant is what I would want for the infinity/evolution controller. I want to control the humidity to raise my comfort level and hopefully reduce my costs. I'm paying a little more for efficiency because I'm so uncertain about future energy costs. So reliability, while important, fell a little on my criteria for selection because I just couldn't discern who made the most reliable product. From everything I've read, installation is important as is regular service. Get a 10 year labor and parts warranty. The Bryant dealer I'm dealing with says it's free in my area right now. If you have a 10 year parts and labor you have a hedge against a lemon, which is what we all fear. Good luck! Keep reseaching and you will become comfortable with your selection.

No, it's the one on the right. Different lighting and all that, I guess. I did not take the original photo of the samples. What we got did end up looking more like the very first sample I did see, in person. (Then we ordered, and the lots looked like the two in the photo in the first post.) So maybe the photo they took was a little washed out? Who knows.

Hi summery. Well, six years of daily use and no drips or malfunctions of any kind suggest that it will last. (I hope.) So far, so good. My small kitchen is gently contemporary and it's positioned in the middle of open-concept LR, DR, and FR. The ceilings are 14 feet and the south side of the house is basically all windows. The walls are full of eclectic art. The Karbon seems to fit in comfortably with our well-worn mostly contemporary furniture and textiles, a few antiques, tons of plants, and many musical instruments. I can see the Karbon from every room on this level except the bathroom. :) I'd show you a pic but my DH has asked us not to post photos.

Same quartz depending on where you might need seams; other wise neither of the other two -- something larger format. Also, what type of refrigerator will you have? -- if the door, or one of the doors is hinged on the right side, you may have issues opening the door fully with that wall/dead corner.
