I am looking for this same color too! I have tried LOTS of different samples and most are too "fleshy." BM Ranchwood is a popular exterior color in Canada - in the US the color is Indian River. BM Porpoise is also used in our neighborhood as is Urbane Bronze. SW Zeus is popular, but goes too green on my house. My finalists so far (I don't think I am done yet) are BM Fairview Taupe and Kingsport Grey - but both go a little "olive" with all of the green bounce from the landscaping, and I don't love that. I would also love to know other colors that folks have tried :-)

ARe you still out there, wonbyherwits ? I am officially dying to see your house color and wondered if the above instructions would work for BM paint? If you are out there, please help yet another person looking for a gray with green cast. Anyone else - We have a long ranch/colonial style house (only has 2 floors in the center and 3 gables show through the roof). It is a rough cedar shake that is currently painted a silvery gray color that they probably thought the cedar would naturally turn to. The house just had a brand new slate roof put on, and we will have copper gutters installed and we have a lot of copper showing through the roof due to a zillion vents being covered! (Will all naturally turn that greenish color.) The roofs of the bay windows are now copper and the copper color actually reflects up onto the fascia. Much of the front is clad in a stone, some of it being an irridescent mica stone (we hate it, but don't have enough cash left to change it, so we make the best of it.) We will keep a white trim b/c the windows and garage doors are all new and white, and the shingles will probably stay the black color they are in the pic. The house across the street looks the same, so I wanted something a little different (and better!) Any suggestions would be very appreciated! House before renovations -

Ask your painter if they use SW or Dunn Edwards. Have them pick up a quart of each of your two choices in the preferred brand, and then have them paint a 4 foot wide swath from floor to ceiling on the front wall.

You have to try some samples on a big board outside before making a decision. Start with the two you like and see how they work. Everything looks much lighter outside. In general, I prefer more muted tones for exterior, to avoid the carnival look, unless it’s a beach house, they can wear brighter colors.
