I am not an expert at all but it occurred to me that you may have incompatible products on the floor. When you have solvent and wax based products the result is sticky or dull etc. To get it all off I used to use mineral spirits. I worked the 800# for a floor wax for a bit and this is what would happen if someone used a wax and then Murphy's Oil Soap. Before you try this, to see if you have two incompatible products on the floor. Did anyone use Murphys or any paste wax or any other kind of wax?

We have just installed Hard floors on Concrete using the glue down method. Unfortunately, my husband also got glue on our floor as he was installing. We saw in another chat thread that Mr.Clean Magic eraser works on the dried glue. I had my doubts, but decided to try it anyway. It REALLY works. The Bostik and Mopei cleaner does work too but leaves an oily residue on the floor, which then needs to be cleaned up, I've heard that denatured alcohol works good with this, but have not tried it yet. Has anyone else had experience with that? I've used Magic Eraser, Bostik adhesive remover, Mopei adhesive, and then cleaned with Bruce and Bona cleaner, and so far nothing has hurt my floor! It's hard work but gradually we are getting it all up!

The straight lines look like cuts that are deep into the wood. Don't try to sand them out...you will run out of wood before you reach the bottom of the cut. They look dark because the paint has gone down into the crevasse. You still have finish on the wood floor. You will need to know your 'finishing' grit before you start. Traditionally you move up by #20 increments. Example: 60, 80, 100. Or 80, 100, 120. How many passes have you done with the 20grit? Becareful with these low grits. They can take down a hardwood floor much faster than you want. How much 'wood' is left on this floor? To complete a full sand/refinish you ideally want 3mm of wood or move above the tongue. How old do you think the paint was? Did anyone check for lead in the paint?

When using the Windex Original formula, you want to spray (almost soak) an area 2ft x2ft. Leave the windex for 30-60 seconds (no more, no less). Then wipe up with a cotton cloth. Check the cloth for a yellow/orange/brown colour. If you see it then you have begun the 'stripping' process. Spray the area again and wipe up normally. Check the cloth. If it shows any form of yellow/orange, continue spraying/wiping in the same area until the cloth comes away 'damp' looking (maybe a snick blue from the windex). I've successfully removed Pledge from finished furniture using Windex Original. Windex original has 5% ammonia = the strength suggested for floors.
