No wall cabinets adjacent to chimney hood--how high to tile?
Comments (23)10:07 is our kitchen, and how far up to tile was a hotly contested issue! I pushed for the whole wall but it blew our tile budget, and that's also one of the only parts of the kitchen where we really have wall color. The reason we didn't meet the hood was mostly because ours was a DIY first-time tile job and we weren't confident we could cut the tile to the exact specifications of the hood width without it looking like a hot mess (since our hood is not an even 36"). The gap still bugs me and is the reason we added that utensil bar (which helped a lot, at least for me). So I would either go all the way up or go up to the hood and run it even with that all the way across, I think. That was my first choice for ours--our top shelf is lined up with the edge of the hood, so it would have worked perfectly. HTH!...See MoreWall Paint Help (bedroom & adjacent walls)
Comments (19)Good news - the entire area is now the sunny creamy yellow color! Hollybar - chair isn't a bad idea, though I'd never actually sit in it... I do have a small rocking chair, visible on the right in the first photo. Without the bookshelves, it could sit farther back in the corner. It NEVER gets sat in, but it's the rocking chair that my mother nursed me in, so it's got sentimental value. Pennydesign - thank you for the tip about the grommet drapery. If you have any color/style suggestions... I tend to like more traditional/transitional decor, with a hint of bohemian. I also don't like dark or light blocking curtains. I tend to prefer sheer or semi-sheer. The orange comforter comes & goes... I have purple, blue, raspberry bedspreads/comforters/quilts... really. I will never run out of bedding, jackets or toilet paper... Re: switching the side of the bed... maybe. I do like your photo. The bed frame is almost the exact size of the bumpout 5'. My only concerns are that it will be more awkward to get up at night to go to the bathroom, I'll have to go around a corner rather than the straight shot down the hall to the bathroom, and it seems a little awkward to have the bed on that entrance wall, though, honestly, I can't quite put my finger on why....See Morewall color suggestions for kitchen and adjacent rooms
Comments (2)I think I need to see some parts of the rest of the main living space. I will say i love a soft gry/ green with wood and white and IMO much more neutral than beige gray or white ( think nature ) I often use that type of color when a new build and it needs paint decided before anything else. If your lighting is in get LED bulbs for all the fixtures 4000K (daylight) before choosing anything else including the floors BTW I only see Calypso no Cairo...See MoreAdvice for picking the wall color adjacent to an accent wall
Comments (7)@Judy Graham It is vaulted and I think would look cool with an accent wall (doing this for myself, not resale, but still want it to look nice). The rest of the house will be pretty neutral so I really want to do a fun pop in here and I just love the color and other inspiration photos I have found. Carpet will be replaced soon with a lighter neutral. Technically not finalizing paints til it's in but trying to be efficient. I am really not questioning the teal though. I know it is not everyone's cup of tea but I just bought this so have many years to go in this house and one wall of dramatic paint can be repainted if future owners don't like it. I attached a photo in a different comment....See MoreSammie J
