Just finished my bulbs today. Did not plant as much as usual this year because of some planned spring construction work - and still had trouble finding space for what I so glibly ordered in September! I planted mostly large tulips, but also a hundred each of ipheions and species tulips, a dozen Gladiolus communis ssp. byzantinus, and one lone Fritillaria imperialis, since it is of doubtful hardiness in my wet clay. My bulb planting was probably done a week or so late this year because of waiting around for contractor estimates - was not quite sure what I could get planted and where and got my order in late (lots of things were already sold out). Also it has rained incessantly here this fall!

Hi, charliedawg -- He could still spend the money for something else, because we don't see receipts or anything, just his notations on the bank form as to what he's taking. I'm sure it's not him, though. I hope it's a bank mistake and they are honest enough to find it and admit it. Thanks for your good wishes, charliedawg. I'm actually worried more about DH, because he's so confident in his figures and it will be a terrible shock for him if we have to take out another loan besides the mortage. Zep516, Thanks for all your help. I've tried to follow all your instructions. I downloaded the file from the link you provided, unzipped it, and re-booted the computer. Then did the uninstall of the realtek audio driver from the device manager, and again re-booted - and it gave me a 'fouund new hardware' message. Plus I then went back to the device manager and the driver was listed, but still no sound. I think I'm about ready to give up trying. Might try getting a sound card - or may just take this thing to a local computer shop that does free diagnostic with a quote on repair cost. They seem nice. My stepdaughter bought a lenovo laptop from them about a year and half ago. I considered doing that but instead thought I'd just give her some money for her old computer (this one)as it had the power supply, and mother board replaced under warranty. Thought I'd be saving some $$. WRONG! This was of course before I knew about the sound prob. My husband then surprised me with a nice new monitor. Very sweet of him, but now I'm wishing that I had just let him put that money towards a new laptop instead of a monitor. If you were not able to do a lot yourself to computers, would you invest anymore in this one (it seems fine except the sound) or just bite the bullet and get a new one? Tough question I know, but just curious your opinion and not really asking you to make the decision for me. Whatever I do, it won't be anytime soon - a little short on $$ right now. What brand of computer (lower end $$) do you think is most dependable? I've been told Toshiba is o.k., but to stay away from Compaq and HP. What do you think, or do you care to say? Thanks, Frances

Miranda33: That's what I've heard regards to Samsung, people saying that their servicer can't get parts. The machine of question belonged to friends of my sister. They were quoted $800-ish to repair so decided to dump their set. I have some experience repairing appliances so my sister took the machines (nothing wrong with the dryer). I thought "Hmm, this is going to be fun trying to find parts." Imagine my surprise when I easily found seven online sources. Compared for best price and the parts came in at $259, including shipping. Tell your sister to find her machine's model number and search it online. Some of the sources I use include SearsPartsDirect.com, PartsDr.com, AppliancePartsPros.com, RepairClinic.com, and ApplianceZone.com. MidwestApplianceParts.com came up during the Samsung search (by part number), and also SamsungParts.com. There are a couple others I use for a specific brand. Some sources I've used in the past are gone, and new sources have come up. Search the model number at one of the sources (I go to Sears first, they usually carry the most brands) to get the needed part numbers, then shop the other sources by part number for best price (don't forget to compare shipping). Google the part numbers to find more sources. Chickemama: I don't know. Perhaps repair services are tied to specific parts sources by contract or company policy (if it's a regional or national chain service), such that they can't seek other sources such as online vendors.
