Comments (14)So good to hear from you, too, Luckygal! And, wow, you sure did good for 1 day of GS'ing! sounds like a lovely camping trip...always enjoy being by a lake, too! And such wonderful dish bargains! I'm going to post a pic here from GJ that you might enjoy...that I saved in my future projects album...someday, I may find the right statue to try one of these and collect enough seashells...don't find them often here in the corn & bean fields! LOL! I LOVE your summer/beach vignette...that painting is what makes it come alive...I can hear the ocean! Love how you "nested" that large seashell on top of the vase...used so many textural items in the vignette & adding the candle! BEAUTIFUL! TFS! Comments (24)THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS! And especially thank you for the kind words about my house....besides the fact that I am struggling with the details, our house truly has become our "home"..we are surrounded by amazing neighbors who are now true friends and are so blessed to live in a gorgeous area. I am going to peruse some stores today to try to find somthing long and low to center on the sideboard as that seems to be the majority vote! I find I really do struggle with thinking that I've just got random accessories scattered about my home with no real groupings or flow. I think part of my problem is also that I don't quite know what my "style" is. I've always just said comfortable french with some modern accents thrown in - like brown leather slipper chairs in my library, maybe sortof pottery barnish - I don't know. I definitely love my black accents and start to worry that I've overdone them.......If I only had a decorating identity - lol. As for the sideboard - It was made by Collezione Europa and bought from a local store here - not expensive by any means! Unfortunately I did buy it about 4 years ago so I'm not sure they would still make it....I also have a little black table with gold nail heads from the same company in my living room..they have some beautiful, inexpensive pieces. And the sectional was from Bassett. We looked long and hard to find a sectional that fit...my favorite one was at Thomasville but was just massive and wouldn't work...my family room is long and thin and we needed to find small....and affordable! The quality seems ok so far...it definitely gets its share of abuse with two kids and two dogs! As for the suggestion of moving the sideboard, I wish I could show it off in a better area but the layout of my house seems to have left out one major thing....wallspace! We've really struggled with that....it is all windows. As for the French-Asian suggestion...this really intriques me - since I have no idea what french-asian is...but the colors you listed are my favorite colors...I've been wanting to add some blue to my sea of red, gold, green, brown and black for a long time but don't know how. Can you post a picture of what something french-asian would be? Thanks again so very much......Hopefully this can be checked off my list and I can move onto my living room which is number two and of course involves tablescaping again...my weakness!...See MoreSuggestions to arrange/decoration my floating bar shelves & sideboard
Comments (10)Cool inspiration! I would actually bring the two floating shelves closer together. I know the inspiration has the shelves a bit wider than the sideboard, but I feel like you have a balance issue with yours spread out so much wider than the furniture underneath. I would remove your "live laugh wine" sign, bring the right hand floating "c" in closer to the center and possibly even lower? I'm wondering what it would look like if they looked like one continuous "s" shelf? Ceiling might not be high enough to do that... You may need to play with it. Then you could prop your "live laugh" sign on the top right hand of the "c" if you want to use it....See MoreSo how would you decorate this sideboard?
Comments (21)What a lovely room. The turquoise backs in the bookcase light up the whole room, and the mantel arrangement is beautiful in its simplicity. I don't know that I would change the lamp shades since the base has a color. I suppose it's a crazy idea, but I wonder how the chest would look behind the sofa where the desk is. I do see your point about the proximity to the piano. Is there a way to move the chest further away down that wall? I see the empty wall to the left in the last picture as a great place to have a gallery of pictures where you can introduce some brighter colors and inject a little edginess to this room. Some rust red or muted orange colors would be a great compliment to the cool blue tones in the room. Your arrangement on the chest is really nice. However, since the picture is not very large you might try hanging it just to see the effect. Sometimes the only way to know is to try different variations. However, it's lovely just as it is too....See Morejck910
