Should I paint the inside walls same color as the outer walls?
Comments (7)It's not a design principle or "rule" but in this case the walls behind the shelving would look better if the blue were continued onto them. The reason has to do with contrast. The white shelves on the cream walls look a bit washed-out. The white shelving upon the blue walls would be quite strike and present a more polished look! Happy painting to you!...See MoreShould we paint the garage door trim to match the siding color?
Comments (0)We recently painted our house, including the siding, all the trim, and the front door. The siding color was previously a light shade of gray, and the front door was black. We were hoping that the new color scheme would cause the garage to recede while also pulling attention to the front door (which is always in the shadows due to the large tree in front, the angle of the house, and the porch roof). We went ahead and painted the garage door trim to match all the other trim. I am sort of feeling that it looks too busy with that garage door trim causing lines to pop out across the front expanse of the garage. Maybe there's just not a good way around it; the original house design, combined with the large tree, really makes the garage prominent. If we painted the garage door trim the same color as the siding, would that look odd? Would it make the garage look too imposing as a wall of nearly solid green? Should we accept the fact the garage is prominent and consider getting nicer doors that we might paint white?...See MoreShould I paint both walls the same color?
Comments (10)@tqtqtbw- I'm trying to decide on an inspiration look. I like airy coastal, which I think could easily be achieved with what I have so far but I also like the idea of some bold color. I like shells, plants, wickers, wood, all things natural and textural. My sofa is beige and I have a brown wicker chest for a coffee table. I was considering navy in order to minimize the obviousness of the TV on that wall and make some of the other elements pop a bit more but I don't want to paint everything navy. I still need some additional seating so I could bring color in that way as well. The current paint color is neutral but in person looks like a manila envelope from work. My office walls at work are painted the same color so I feel like I'm at work when I'm at home! :) @hollybar - The floor wouldn't be my first choice either but we need to keep it. Glad it's not a crazy color, at least!...See MoreShould I paint my pantry the same color as my door?
