fragrant disease resistant shrub rose for SW Conn.
Comments (6)Austin's Mayflower (pink) is very disease-resistant and blooms a lot. I'd rate the fragrance moderate but nice. The Buck rose Earth Song is a rich medium pink and disease-resistant and strongly fragrant. It is a grandiflora but grows more like a shrub. Don't know what either one would think about 4-5 hours only of sun, however--but that could be a problem with a lot of roses. Hope that helps. Kate...See MoreFavorite Fragrant Hot Pink Rose
Comments (25)Mbluetyphoon, I'm so very sorry if I offended you. I had a sinking feeling as soon as I sent off the post that my comment was very much out of line. I hope you can overlook it. Diane-nj, I think I probably would like your garden. When you have very many roses with different colors close together the look becomes that of a rich tapestry, which I find very appealing. When I tried to picture in my mind just five roses of vastly different colors from the warm and cool sides of the color spectrum it was difficult for me. But it wasn't my place to comment on that, no matter how good my intentions. Ingrid...See MoreFavorite, Intense Pink, Fragrant, Prolific, Small Shrub
Comments (10)"Intense Pink, Fragrant, Prolific, Small Shrub" :-) Not asking for much are you? LOL ... Anyway the first thing that came to mind is the gorgeous little mounding rose Rainbow Knockout. It's pink, but not intense pink and so low to the ground I wouldn't know if mine is fragrant or not, but I am really high on this rose. Then I thought of a new little Abelia variety someone was talking about last year, not `Kaleidoscope` but something else. I looked at it at a nursery and really liked it. Am racking my brain to think of the name of it. Maybe someone else will remember it. What might look darling there with its intense pink flowers, thick evergreen foliage and low mounding draping form would be Pink Skullcap. Any of these would be low maintenance, have dense foliage and be abundant blooming. Then scatter some Alyssums around for their intense honey fragrance. Happy gardening while looking and finding just the right plant!...See MoreSuggestion for a fragrant, everblooming, large bloomed vine in 9b
