Landscaping underneath those small windows on the side of your house will certainly camoflauge their size. Currently they really stand out because there's absolutely nothing else to look at on that side. You can paint your house any colour because it's basically a blank slate. Whatever colour you choose, I would paint the vertical siding in the the peaks a slightly lighter or darker colour, depending on the paint colour you choose for the main house. You can also add white corner moulding, moulding between the horizontal and vertical siding and around windows, doors and garage door. Won't take much to get this house looking like a charming cottage. Oh, and lose the storm door and paint your front door an inviting colour different than the colour of your siding.

I think that works well because the floors are dark too, no? I’m not sure how the dark railing would look with our light floors. We are going back and forth about painting the door white. I think it would modernize the look but when I’ve seen it done before it always looks so obviously DIY. I’m hoping to use the brass accents with the mid century decor to make it look a bit more traditional and match the formality of the door and stairway. The brass and glass table in the entryway was a great find. It was in my parent’s storage! They had painted it black and so I stripped it and cleaned it up. I can’t wait for the entryway rug to come. The vendor keeps pushing back the date and it’s driving me crazy! I keep trying to find another rug, but that light beige with the gray and emerald green accents is so perfect and there’s nothing else like it! I must say that the guidance I’ve had here has REALLY improved this room! Thank you everyone! I’m so sorry if it takes me a while to review and consider all of your comments... Tony, since both walkways appear to have the same significance, calling attention to the primary door should be your objective. If budget and design would permit, convert the double windows to French doors. If not a metal awning above the door and new stone pillars flanking the walk with planters atop should do the trick.

I like green with the brick and also a the idea of good plantings to cover the concrete this is one of my fave colors with brickI woulr remove the shutters for sure and yoi need a railing on that entry deck so ,aybe simple metal and glass and a nice MCM front foor with more glass. I would make the flower beds deeper and then do the planting further out from the front wall so the windows still get some light . If you want low maintenace this isa great inspiration for MCM type landcaping
