Looking to update FP Room is app 13x18 fireplace sits between two large wiindows and that takes up all of wall i dont want FP to completely dominate the room thinking of covering it in White wood surround and new mantle NEED IDEAS!

Personally, I think the white mantel shelf or surround is too formal for this room. I would suggest a rough hewn mantel that ties in with the beams in the ceiling. I would also replace the dated fireplace doors with something more attractive in a bronze finish. Add some matching fireplace tools for the finishing touch.

Removing the majority of items from the shelf and adding artwork above the fireplace is a common suggestion. I did not do that in this mockup just so you can see the transformation of these simple changes.

we need to see it in context with the whole room. this will both give us an idea of size and also how much volume you can really take there without it still dominating the space.

Very cool mock up and walk through! It looks like it’ll be a space you will enjoy. If I were to be rather picky, I’d say the bar stools by the back tv area seems a bit crowded… but it could just be the picture/ software. In the mock up it shows a back splash on the posts… I’d probably remove that. And if were my space, I’d move the stove top to the wall instead of in the Island and hang some nice lights there instead of a vent hanging down. What an exciting space!

Since you seem to be redoing the entire room including I presume furniture, make a plan and decide on a style before going ahead with anything, it's an ideal situation to have everthing coordinate. My suggestions can all be done DIY mode. Shiplap (or just leave as plain drywall) above the mantel, new wood mantel, new white oak wide plank look LVP, natural fiber roman shade on entrance door, new ceiling fan...

What size beam would you recommend? the cirrent mantle id 81” and dimension from top of mantle to top of hearth is 46” thanks

By ID on the mantel I am assuming that is the width of the bricks? If that is the case I would make the beam 2" to 3" wider than the brick, so 85" to 87". The mockup I created is about 2 bricks thick in height, which is about 7". I also added a 2" wide piece of wood beneath the mantel to help with the proportion.
