Is this black mold? How to resolve this situation?

Hello, Is this black mold? I had a contractor come and fix this in the past. It was resolved for couple of weeks and now it is back again. How do I permanently
fix this issue? Please help

Black mold in Brand New Shower!
Comments (8)Here in Georgia we have a constant mold problem as well--everybody does. I agree with the advice to dry the grout line immediately. I have allergic asthma, allergic to 5 different groups of molds. And we currently have baths with tiled shower surrounds. Yes, we've upgraded our exhaust fans and use them, on a timer. Also have a whole-house HRV. Nothing works except drying those grout lines. BTW, you do NOT have to kill the mold, you only have to remove it (like an insect from your house--don't have to kill it before escorting it out). And if you don't remove it, even IF you've killed it, the remaining mold spores can contribute to airway irritation, whether your household is allergic or not. I can't tolerate the fumes from anything that kills mold anyway. So I just use a mild cleanser and brush to remove it; rinse well, take brush outside and give it a quick soak in hydrogen peroxide, regular strength. Mold, beyond its health problems, leaves ugly stains even when removed. And whether dead or live when removed. Hydrogen peroxide, if safe for your marble, will remove recent/not too entrenched stains. But not real well. The only thing I've found for the stains is chlorine bleach. Sealing our grout did not help but very briefly. Silicone caulk/grout actually makes the problem worse. Because it remains flexible (its great benefit), it allows water, then mold growth, behind it. And it is transparent so you can see the lovely mold through it. So, I've abandoned the silicone that was supposed to be the best. You don't want to know my permanent solution because it is not popular or stylish. For anyone who does want to know it, here it is: buy a one-piece acrylic (not regular fiberglass, it's too fragile) bathtub or shower or tub/shower combination "module" which has its own ceiling as well. About $2400. with built-in stainless grab bars from Kohler's Freewill line. Less, without the grab bars, from Lasco. That's all we will ever use in the future. Comments (6)That's an ingenious idea, regus (and so is your forum name!), but that won't work for us. Due to an inflexible configuration downstairs, the tv has to stay against the wall it's on, and there's a bathroom on the other side of that wall. We do have maybe 18-24" on either side of the television (it's situated between two doorframes), and I have a vision -- albeit sketchy -- of doing skinny shelf units on either side with a shelf as a bridge across the top. That way, the components are on something more stable than a wall-mounted shelf. Plus, then we wouldn't have the wires pinched behind the shelf and snaking down the wall, which in itself sounds to me like a bad move. Neither of us are particularly handy, though, so I need to find an off-the-shelf solution. I don't know if such a thing is feasible and, really, I'm not sure where I would start looking for the pieces!...See Morewere the Trex mold issues resolved?
Comments (19)Weather has should have no bearing on the composite material. my uncle has been a contractor in Oregon (rains nine months out of the year)for over 15 years, who uses several types of composites without fail. He does not ever recommend the use of Trex to customers because they do have a faulty product. Like deckman22 said don't a chemical unless it is an MBA (microbiotic agent) or else it will break down the top layers of the composite itself. However there are many good alternatives with a little research they are easy to find. Always look for a warranty on the product. I would recommend something such as Timbertech as it has a 25- lifetime warranty even for fading and literally has no maintenance. I have put in decks for people that have had to be replaced but they were fully paid for by Timbertech (including contractor fees) and they have a decent customer service center from what the customers have stated....See MoreBlack mold in dishwasher -- safe?

Reynolds KA, Boone S, Bright KR, Gerba CP. Author information Abstract The occurrence and distribution of mold on household surfaces and the efficacy of bleach-based (sodium hypochlorite, NaOCl) disinfectants on mold viability and allergenicity was documented. Household microenvironments prone to increased moisture were specifically targeted. Using the sticky tape method, 1330 samples were collected from non-porous indoor surfaces of 160 homes across the United States, and analyzed for mold. Homes were randomly selected and recruited via phone interviews. Culture and immunoassays were used to measure the viability and reduction of allergenic properties of Aspergillus fumigatus following 2.4% NaOCl treatment. All homes and 72.9% of surfaces tested positive for mold. Windowsills were the most frequently contaminated site (87.5%) and Cladosporium the most commonly identified mold (31.0%). Five-minute exposures to 2.4% NaOCl resulted in a >3 to >6-logâÂÂâ reduction of culturable mold counts in controlled laboratory studies. Organisms were nonculturable after 5- and 10-min contact times on non-porous and porous ceramic carriers, respectively, and A. fumigatus spore-eluted allergen levels were reduced by an average 95.8% in 30 sec, as indicated by immunoassay. All homes are contaminated with some level of mold, and regrowth is likely in moisture-prone microenvironments. The use of low concentrations (2.4%) of NaOCl for the reduction of culturable indoor mold and related allergens is effective and recommended. Were the worms maggots because of food left in the DW? It's quite common that mold grows in a warm, moist environment with food leftovers.
