31in top mount sink in a 30in base?

I am looking at pitting the largest top-mount cast iron sink into a 30in base.


The Kohler 31in Bakersfield sink (K-5832-4-0) specifies that it needs to be in a 33in or bigger base cabinet, and they specify the cutout is 29-3/4" wide. But… when I look at the DXF/DWG files, it looks like the absolute widest part of the sink where it intersects the counter, is only 25in wide. Why can’t I put this sink into a cutout that is closer to the 25in width, or even up to 29in?
