Single hole bathroom faucet too out of date?
I have Kohler Fairfax single hole faucets in my current house and have loved them since they were installed. They are easy to operate, never a problem, water doesn't drip on the faucet and they work for both left handed and right handed people.
Design Dilemna...I'm building a new 1 BR apartment for my mother (in the future) and was hoping to have a mix of traditional and more modern decor. Is this faucet too old fashioned looking?
What type of lighting would you use to make it a bit more modern? I will be installing a 4 light sconce above a glued down mirror which covers the 48" vanity and the toilet area.

I know you said that your husband likes "uniform finishes" but I'd like to suggest a tile which I installed a while back and was very pleased with the results. There is a subtle pinstripe to the tile, but you (and your husband) may find that you like the variation better than a monochrome? It's a rectified porcelain from Walker Zanger called "Groove" and it's available in 7 colors in 18"x18' field and 4"x18" bullnose trim. Here are a couple shots of the project I installed. The color was "Lava", the darkest in the series. This first shot is a close up of the shower pan mosaic I cut down from the 18" field tiles. (The tiles are skewed because I haven't racked them into line yet) This next is a view with the white wall tile for contrast. Just thought it might be worth considering? Comments (6)Lovely! I like the classic white tile and porcelain and how you used furniture pieces in the bathroom. I love that the storage at the end of the tub has pull-outs that can be reached from the toilet. Your custom sink and backsplash and counter are unique and beautiful. Yours may be the first bathroom sink I have seen in which a small or medium dog could be washed! That is a good thing! I showed your pictures to my DH because I am thinking of classic tiled walls with a chair rail for when we redo our bath in a couple of years. He liked it! I was expecting him to say, "too old fashioned." He did not, he said it looked nice. From him, nice is a compliment. He even liked your rows of listello. I was just at the Tile Shop's site the other day looking at the Hampton tiles because someone was selling some on Craigslist. I am hoping to do as you did and get what I can cheaper there, and fill in the rest from the store. I can see that you worked very hard to secure all of your materials - and then cut the floor tiles to size and culled the Hampton tiles, too! We thought we would go this route instead of the standard 3-hole faucets but you know how you start doubting yourself and thinking "uh oh, maybe this is a bad idea"??? ;) They just seem like they would be so much easier to keep clean too. I like the Fairfax alot but DH wants something more modern so the hunt continues. If anyone has the Delta Dryden or Arzo, I would love to see pics of them. 2 years agoYou guys confirmed my suspicion...something just wasn't sitting right with that combination, so I'll move on. I'm also looking at the Brizo Tresa and Brizo Rook, both in either chrome or PNickel. I may end up giving up the single hole design and go for two handle versions. Also like the look in the photo below, which is really the "Look" I was after...a mix of traditional and contemporary.
But although I love the look, I think these sconces may be too large for a 48" vanity and wouldl prefer glass to fabric shades.

We are already in the process of building. Our electrical wiring goes in on Monday, followed by windows and drywall, so I'm probably more behind than ahead of schedule.
I was toying with the idea of installing lighting fixtures 'through' the mirror rather than above it, but not sure it's worth the aggravation of trying to coordinate the mirror hole drilling with electrical boxes. I do love this look, just not sure how to pull it off with a 48" vanity and toilet area.
