Could be a number of things but sunburn comes to mind. How about some info on care and location.

I keep this plant in my north facing kitchen window. Every once in a while I will put it outside for an hour or so to get some direct sunlight.

Hello Nicole thanks for your response I live in New Jersey And this winter doesn’t want to leave we are in April and the weather is still in the 40 the only day that it was nice was last Friday I have them in my dining room table we’re the sun hits a few hours a day but I am confused because I don’t know if I put to much fertilizer on it or it needs more I only add water when the moisture meter is between moist and dry so it around every two days I hope I did not hurt the roots when I check the moisture on the soil with the two sticks that are in the middle of the meter almost all the leaves including the new ones cumin out the tips are brown I don’t know what to do can you tell me if you can how to measure how much fertilizer to add on a 6” pot once the weather gets nice I will plant on the ground I got two musa rajoo and one tiny tiny and buy the water your banana tree are looking great can you tell me what fertilizer number are you using I am used 5-5-5 thanks again for all your help

It needs well draining mix, and more light. Soft leaves are usually sign of overwatering. If that's the case, leaves will start getting very soft and almost yellowish in color. Even if your mix is dry on surface, it may be wet around the roots. Mixing lots of coarse perlite with soil may help. Light color of the leaves is because of lack of light, not water. Those new leaves are extremely thin and have almost no chlorophyll. Even new leaves should have darker green color and be rather short, with spines - just like older leaves, but small. Pls. put it in better light, but slowly - they could burn very easily now.

One of the various fungal agents collectively known as maple anthracnose. It is generally not a serious issue, more cosmetic than actually harmful......and it can fluctuate from year to year with weather conditions. And once you see visible signs of the problem, it is too late to treat anyway. But it is best to rake up and destroy or fully compost all the leaves in fall. Don't just use them as is as a mulch as the fungal spores can winter over.

Thank you for getting back. I agree with the above statements. I am not certain it is fungal/bacteria but you could try a systemic fungicide, wait for new leaves to develop to see if they develop the same spots. There is a Phal virus which presents in a similar pattern. I would keep your plant separated from your other orchids and treat it with a systemic fungicide. When new leaves develop and if they show the same spots, I would personally discard the plant. Hopefully it is fungal. Jane

Phals absolutely HATE direct sun outdoors. So that's why it looks like that.

NEVER put a houseplant accustomed to low light outside in direct sun .. EVER ...

if you want to take things outdoors.. you have to harden them off to new light levels.. by taking them out to full shade for a few weeks.. and then slowly working them into sunlight... if it is the type of plant that thrives in sun ...

the further south you go.. the more important this rule is .. and that is why above they asked where you are.. big city name ...

as long as the leaf has any green.. it is converting light into energy .. so regardless of how bad it looks.. leave it on the plant until it yellows and browns.. and then cut it off ..

Almost ANY other orchid genus has more tolerance of sunlight than Phalaenopsis, Moth orchids burn badly in direct sun..., Dendrobiums, Vandas, Cymbidiums, Cattyleas do NOT burn up like this in direct sun.
