Is anyone growing Zaatar, Origanum syriacum?

I have been reading about Zaatar, Origanum syriacum, now that I am getting into herbs... Comments from many people who newly discovered it say they like it a lot and will continue to grow it as an annual or perennial. It is said that it tastes like a combination of thyme, oregano and marjoram. That sounds intriguing.

In addition, I like that it is used dry very often...so you don't feel bad that you can't get it fresh during the winter.

Again documentation about its cold hardiness is all over the place: Zones 9 and 8, most commonly. There is a poster on Dave's Garden that says his Zaatar in the ground comes back year after year and he is in Maryland wet Zone 7. (Maybe he found a cold hardy strain?)

I would love to hear any comments about Zaatar. How you grow it, how it grows for you, the taste and flavor.... Anything at all that you would like to share.
