leftover water in quartz sink

Every time I use my new Karan quartz sink there is all kinds of remaining water on the surface. I purchased a gray color and the remaining water is so visible it is driving me crazy. Did I make a poor choice and have to live with it?

It’s a sink. It gets wet. Such is life in a working kitchen. With all that’s going on in this country, this is what you’re obsessing about?

The OP is asking a question - the raison d'être of this forum, why can't you just provide a helpful response.

To the OP - it's hard to answer your question without photos. "all kinds of remaining water on the surface" is a subjective description. We can't tell anything from that. It could be water that hasn't drained or evaporated yet which is normal. It could be the sink is defective in its slope (i.e. not sloped enough toward the drain). Or it could be the installation is improper not allowing for the correct slope toward the drain.

I haven't done the sink diversion and I haven't collected washing machine water either. But those are both good ideas. Something to think about. Jacksonville has become the center of the rain donut. It's crazy-ridiculous how dry we are. Even the weather people on the local news stations refer to the "dome" over Jacksonville. We are getting in a seriously bad situation. The Drought Monitor website shows that we are not "Extreme". Oh, no, even worse: we are "Exceptional". I guess we would be lucky to be "Extreme". See link below that shows just the state of Florida. Jacksonville is already 13 inches below average rainfall, year-to-date for 2012. To quote from one of the local weather blogs, "Dating back to the great fires of 1998, we have been 48.3 inches below average on rainfall. To put it in perspective it is like we [Jacksonville] did not have an entire year of rain since we average about 53 inches of rain per year." Holy cow. Countertops are always made to order/ custom....no matter what he says about being pre-designed. They can do it. The reason they don't allow many changes is it then becomes a 'custom home' and custom homes require a lot more hand holding, project management and troubleshooting. A simple change or make one little thing custom, and it can hold up the job and cost him $. Building homes are getting more and more expensive....to keep his overhead down, selections are limited. My sister once wanted to have me supply her kitchen but the tract builder wouldn't budge. I get it. I get why they do that. Maybe the only way around it is to get the smallest sink you can....then get the larger sink cutout recut later with the sink you want. You might be able to find a place to do it in on site....but you may have to have the top removed and reinstalled. If i were you, I would tell the builder that his ugly double sink offerings are OUTDATED. Guilt him in to offering a larger more modern single sink like the one you pictured. Tell him that probably every job would pay the upgrade. Make him see dollar signs.

Know anything about Kohler Neoroc quartz composite sinks?

Hello, any updates on the Neoroc Kohler sinks as far as staining, performance, etc? I have an older black one (not sure of the brand) but it appears black is noted for developing the white film and only solution is to oil it, but never lasts where the water sits. Do these do the same? Was thinking of going with the light gray but wondering if they will do the same? We do have a water softener but does not help.

Certain sinks evacuate better than others. A single bowl composite Elkay drains like crazy. Place a 4' level in an "X" fashion plus front to back and side to side over your sink and let us know what it said please.

So the new laminate counter top (trying to update kitchen without doing a whole remodel job) with an integrated Karan double basin sink was installed yesterday...after 45 years of having an old white cast iron sink from yesteryear. Forgive me for having my concerns about this, but this is new for me. I did plenty of research on caring for a quartz sink, but I did not come across any comments indicating that anytime water was ran there would be as much remaining in the sink...until it was either wiped out or evaporates. In the attached picture, I do understand that the water sitting around the flange(?)/ring is due to incorrect installation by my husband and can/will be corrected, but my question is whether or not the other water that is around the walls and base of the sink is “normal”? Thanks for everyone’s input.

Can you take a picture of the entire sink rather than that closeup? It's hard to really tell if what you have is unusual or not from that pic.

Yup, as I said earlier…it’s a sink. Sinks get wet. As @SusanGeorge said…twice…if it bothers you, wipe it dry. However, with the frequency that sinks get used each day, that’ll be a lot of your time ”fixing” what is normal.
