Might be part of the Verified Purchase Review scam? They send their items out to random addresses so their review will have verified purchase on it.

One I ordered several children's winter coats from Old Navy - super cheap on clearance - and received a package of flip flops meant to go to a buyer in Samoa! I wondered if the coats went there - customer service couldn't say! They did have me return the flip flops

Sounds like a plain vanilla goof. Amazon will fix it. They always do.

Considering the volume of goods delivered by Amazon on a daily basis, it should not be much of a surprise to discover that there are any number of misdelivered items occurring as well. And this is almost always a no-fault occurrence on the part of the recipient, with no returns expected.

Likely just an honest mistake -- huge volume, and mistakes are bound to happen.

Amazon is as good with non-delivery as with wrong delivery. No one will wait for non-delivery very long if they act on the problem.

Since the beginning of the pandemic and the spike in online purchases and consequently deliveries, many companies have upped their games considerably. Amazon is still the Gold Standard as far as my experiences go. Their customer service practices are nothing if not very customer-centric. Believe the customer, resolve the issue as soon as is possible. No cutting corners, no games.

Had you received tracking info for the items you did order?

Probably just a simple goof. An amusing one that happened to me was when I ordered an amino-acid supplement last year and it arrived with a message saying it was a gift from "Gloria." The daughter of a friend of mine, Gloria lives on a remote island off the coast of Alaska. We've never met. If she did send me a gift (unlikely), I'm sure it wouldn't be a bottle of amino acids. LOL

Our experience with Amazon's been amazing when it comes to problems. We just went through a TV exchange with them. Couldn't have been easier.

Be very careful when googling for a contact number. They are VERY often not the "real" site. How can you be sure that you interacted with Amazon??? Did you click "Contact Us" on the real site?

Suzique - oh, geez - just what we need, another thing to worry about. They never asked for my mother's credit card info. I did trust that it was Amazon. All she told them was her name, her mailing address and phone number. Maybe we should take her credit card off of her Prime account??

It's likely just fine but to do an internet search for anything beyond the phone number of the local restaurant to place a To Go order is probably not a good idea. Especially not for something where personal finances or personal information is involved.

Seagrass, call Amazon customer service. They will call you back and this will be sorted.

On the app, go to the lower right hand corner with the three horizontal lines, go to the bottom of the screen, then go to Customer Service, hit help with something else, and eventually they call you, just keep saying you need help.

I don't have a smartphone. I use a MacBook. I don't have apps.

I use a MacBook as well. Go to Amazon, in the box where you search for stuff, put in Customer Service Phone Number. You will be given options, including having Amazon call you. That is the standard thing we do on our account, have them call us if we need more help than what is available online. We do not call them.

I recently ordered some silicone baking pan sheets. I use them in my toaster oven to heat things up. I ordered small toaster oven sizes. When they came, they were full size for regular ovens. I went on Amazon website to get the return label and planned to drop them off at Whole Foods which is how I always return things back to them.

When I clicked on the return info, it said there was no need to return and my account would be credited $18.73 immediately. I sat there looking at my computer screen and saw the credit go through to my Amazon card.

Today I received some pillow cases I ordered in King size. They came and are Standard size. I just went to their website to get the info to return to Whole Foods and they said the same thing, "no need to return we will credit your card.' And they did.

Makes me wonder. How many small purchases are let go by them as costing more for people to return than just letting the person keep the wrong items.

I find it strange that it happened twice for me. It is easy for me to return to Whole Foods as I go there frequently. Why would they not want the items back? Does it cost them more for a return?

The next day, the right size silicone pads arrived at my door. Never had that happen before. A store doesn't want the return back and sends you the new one??

I'm awaiting the King size pillow cases!

Jane, Amazon pretty routinely tells us to keep things rather than return them as well. We are returning a printer now, they want that back :-)

Yes, they assess some things as being more costly to return than they are worth, especially if it's a common item they have lots of. So, local charities get some mis-delivered things, I suppose.

Probably so, but not always. We bought a new place a few years ago. Perhaps 12 months later, there was one week during which one or two Amazon deliveries were made to the front door for three days. The items didn't have our name nor that of the sellers. I called Amazon, asked if maybe I could give the boxes to a driver when I saw one. They looked up the items, said "The driver can't take back boxes, do whatever you want with them, no need to get them back to us". A few more deliveries for the unknown name were made.

I opened the boxes to find someone had purchased an odd assortment of items that I will broadly describe as lab equipment. I'm not sure for what purpose. Just as Amazon didn't find them worth getting back, I didn't find them worth trying to figure out exactly what they were used for and/or where to take them. Into the trash they went.

On YouTube I recently watched a CBC video. They ordered items from Amazon, put tracking devices on them and returned the items. Most had sad endings!

Elmer, I still think you should have donated them - even if you didn't know what they were, someone else at the thrift store might have.

I knew generally what the stuff was for but not specifically.. There were tools and non-dangerous, non-flammable small amounts of materials used for a particular hobby. How used or to what end, I wasn't sure.

We give away usable clothing and more importantly make generous cash contributions to support organizations we like that help people in need in various ways. But honestly, I had no interest in spending time looking for where to take this stuff.

I don't get teary eyed with the prospect of throwing things away. Maybe items with such a limited purpose could have been used by who-knows who for who-knows what, who-knows where. Totaling less than $50 in value, it wasn't worth any effort. That's what trash service is for, unwanted items.
