Awkward 90's living room shapes - pellet stove niche?
Comments (10)I would sheet rock up to the ceiling over the power room. I don't know what the plans for the rest of the room, where the TV will be, where the sofa will be, how traffic will flow through the room, what it will look like with the additional window or even if the additional window is a true value add. The niche may be a great place for a desk and charging station as many people like to use their laptops while watching TV and having a tech space isn't all bad. You may also want to use it for blanket storage (I wish my living room had a place to store blankets!). Do you play a lot of board games or work on crafts and could this be storage for those things? Do you have young kids and need a storage space for toys (or if not, will you have young kids in the not too distant future). I hate to waste valuable storage space, but how I address the space would be dependent on needs....See MoreMy awkward beach house living room
Comments (101)>> Side note << Today on the news a professor from Bucknell spoke about a study on home decorating, etc. Found that homeowners are very much influenced by what media says sells homes and what decorating shows on TV advise. As a result, people lose their own sense of style, use of color and design that pleases them. They end up living in houses that they don't enjoy, but will appeal to the masses. Here we all offer suggestions but also show great appreciation from other's style choices and in doing so find new ways to decorate. In the end, they're saying what makes you happy is what's important : )...See Morenarrow and awkward living room layout
Comments (30)Here are some pictures of the 3d rendition with suggestions for your consideration. Please note that we try to match your furniture with similar items. Also, please know that only the placement of the furniture and decorations are being presented for your consideration, not the styles, colors, comfort, etc. We put the Christmas tree in the dining room. :-) we will gladly make adjustments at your request. We based our measurements on your furniture but will make appropriate changes when we get the actual measurements from you later this week. Best wishes to you and yours. Hope this helps. We removed one of your couches. Here you will see, one couch (hopefully the larger of the two) against the back wall and put the TV and TV console on the opposite wall. There are two matching floor lamps flanking either side of the fireplace to provide additional light and balance. We put your mirror over the fireplace to help divide the room and add reflective light. It also takes the place of a window. In this case the mirror is also adding balance to the room. Large wall art was added for additional balance and for fun. In this setting/arrangement the fireplace helps to divide the room for the play area and the living/entertainment room. In this picture you can see that we removed the bookcase and placed it in the play area. We are suggesting a pretty storage cabinet with doors for the corner where you now have the small, colorful storage shelf. You can never have enough storage. It is also nice to have something you can toss toys and so forth into and close the doors when you have guests coming to visit or just want a place to put things such as blankets, etc. nearby. We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas! This was the best ever time when our children were little. So hope you have fun and again, we hope that our suggestions help. MAE...See MoreHelp! Where could I add cabinetry and storage to awkward living room?
Comments (4)I need all of that and IMO right now you already have too much stuff going on .Post pics after the Christmas stuff is gone so we see that sapce as it usually is. What is it you want to display/? A ply pen is a thing IMO brought out when needed and put away the rest of the time. Kids toys need closed storage and not every toy needs to be in the space either . I think diplay shelves are usually just a cluttered mess full of stuff that needs dusting. Why not some art on the wall instead ....See MoreHaw
