Quick answer needed please - will this work?

I received this plant (ilex Little Goblin) yesterday, and I'm not really happy with the main stem on it. I wrote to the company asking about getting a replacement and they responded that I should plant it, burying the curve under the soil, and that this would help the plant grow straight.

Thoughts? Will roots grow from the stem, helping to anchor it? I'm a little doubtful but not sure. Or do you think they mean by planting it deep the soil will help anchor it?

Thanks for your feedback!
