Edgecomb Trim and White Dove walls?
I am moving into a house and had planned to paint all the walls in the main floor and up to the second floor a warm white. I just found out the trim is actually Edgecomb Gray, so the whites I’ve been looking at will be lighter than the trim the color. I want the space to feel warm and cozy and not super stark or cold. Should I still go with a “white” throughout or keep the current greige color for more contrasts and warmth? I can’t find a lot of inspirational photos with darker, greige trim and white walls. Would love help!!! 🤷🏻♀️

Comments (14)Look at the Hex to Ral website. Type in Queen Anne’s Lace vs. Edgecomb Gray, and it will allow you to use this great paint comparison website FREE. Queen Anne’s Lace falls under five different brands. It makes a difference which brand. Edgecomb gray is paired with a lot of off whites because it’s a great combo; however, I chose SW Pure White due to the yellow undertone that exists in off whites—dove white, alabaster, etc. I painted my trim and cabinets in Pure White satin, the ceilings in Pure White flat, and all of my walls, including bathrooms, in Edgecomb Gray flat. Comments (23)I haven't seen it in person.... only in photos and blogs. but I think your best best is to just paint the walls in simply white eggshell....bc next to the simply white trim in satin or semi-gloss, they will look good. It sounds like you want a subtle difference in whites...and just the finish alone will give you a subtle difference bc of the sheen and how they reflect light....See MoreBM white dove walls with SW pure white trim?!

Comments (11)The safest answer is to get the cabinets, get a white that matches the cabinets to paint the trim and then pick an off white that looks great with your whiter white for the walls or use the same color for the walls and trim and cabinets and use different sheens on the walls and trim....See MoreJamie Heath

2 years agoHi Mary! The current colors in the house are: Trim: Edgecomb gray, main floor and kitchen: 1276D Ott (pictured) and the dining and some accents are SW Gauntlet gray (also pictured). I have samples up today and I actually think White Dove is looking nice next to the Edgecomb trim (last picture). I know it would be different than the norm to have a slightly darker trim but it just might work! Any other ideas?

2 years agoI don't know who makes the rules, but they can be broken. I love some of these trim color choices. I also love some colored ceilings.
In my last home I had several different floorings throughout the house. I talked to the founder of Devine Color and she suggested I use the main neutral as the ceiling color throughout to tie the rooms together. Worked beautifully and it was far more economical to paint the ceilings than to rip out and replace 1700 sf of tile.
