That was a very informative post, didn't have any daylily seeds saved so skipped over the thread. I've lurked on the daylily forum and seen the photo results of various crosses, fascinating business, and like was said, every seedling even through controlled pollination bloomed differently if crossed w/another. At this point I'm kind of lukewarm about most daylilies, don't like the coral ones in my part shade bed but hate to get rid of them. I'm really excited about a clump of yellow ones I'm getting going. Maybe it's heresy to say this, but I'm not that enthralled with the super fancy frilly ones, maybe an exception or two. I've been waiting for Wild's to start Brave Heart again, guess they do it in 3-year cycles and missed it last spring. They always send me a freebie, and that's how I got the first two yellows, now I've ordered Going Bananas, supposed to bloom longer. One freebie I put out by the fire hydrant. Dogs do their thing on it but it's multiplied and has really pretty red blooms, Baja, not to be confused with the Baja Asian. I may try something with those yellow ones, soft yellow, not greenish leaning on the color chart, may try to cross some of those with each other. But the ditch lilies have got to go. I dislike them intensively. Except by the roadsides in the country.

3 more over the weekend... Ruellia has little rootlets now. Heavenly Blue MG and a Pink or White MG that I had forgotten about! *********** On the otherhand in my little 4-shelf greenhouse, with my indoor-sown plants that are being hardened-off, I had zipped the flaps shut on Saturday night when it was rather stormy out there. What were nice healthy green plants on Saturday were crispy dead and black looking on Sunday morning. I don't think it got cold enough overnight to have been because of frost or anything.... so it must be from too much heat build up in there on Sunday morning (yeah, I didn't get out there till around lunch time.....) I managed to revive a few things and left the flaps open ever since! Ang

We live in McIndoe Falls, Vt. 2 years ago I visited Olallie Daylily Nursery right after Labor Day, with camera! I figured the best way to select late bloomers was to see the late bloomers in the display gardens! They couldn't have been nicer and I came home w/ the back seat full:) I alternated late bloomers with summer bloomers along our drive and up the walk to the kitchen door. Goal was to have full season bloom. I had 11 daylilies blossuming still on Oct 27th. Now, the bad news! I can't locate my "map" so can't list them by name. The map will show up.. The late bloomers are late bloomers and if you have an opportunity to visit the nursery around Labor Day, I suggest you do so!

It's cute. If it came up in my garden, I'd give it a couple of years to show its stuff. We are seeing some rebloom scapes here. Nancy
