American Leather is not high end by no means. They use plywood frames and webbing in their seats. They also dont make the sleeper mechanism or the mattress, or the fillings in their seat cushions, these are purchased from outside companies. When purchasing a sleeper sofa, it will never sit as well as a standard high quality sofa with coil springs or sinuous wire spring seating. And the seat cushions will deform more quicker as a result of siting on a metal mechanism that is around the perimeter of the seat. You need to see the exact manufacturer of the sleeper mechanism and mattress manufacture and the type. Their arent that many US manufacturers that build sofa sleeper units or sofa mattresses. I dont recommend purchasing a sleeper sofa over a standard sofa, unless you cant do without one.

I spent two nights on one as a guest. and I must say-it was the best sleeper sofa of this kind (hidden mattress folds out) in my life..well among ones I tried So yes I'd say it's worth it

Check out The Sofa Bed Store, you'll get a great mattress and they come apart to fit up stairs. Avoid Ikea if you want it to be comfortable and last, go with Ikea if you need something temporary in my opinion (when in budget of course). I have their most compact model and it arrived in a few boxes, wasn't horrible to assemble (and this meant I could choose what would fit the room, not what would fit my condo's elevator!) Does anyone have any experience with Erika sofa sleepers or American Leather Comfort Sleepers? I'm looking for both a comfortable bed for guests and a comfortable sofa to sit on. I'd love to know your ideas or if you know of other brands I should consider.
