Comments (7)HALOGEN! I love them! - Cheri127 and I seem to be uncharacteristically on opposite sides of 2 issues lately :-) I'm surprised at her comments, as I find them brightest and cleanest, and have read comments from others here that agree...And that's why they're now in range hoods, ovens, etc. Maybe the wattage and style of bulb between what she's experienced and what we have? We have 75 watt 'flood' lights in ours. (there are also 'spot' lights in the same style bulbs) When we first put recessed cans in our last house, the man at the lighting store asked me why in the world I was looking at incandescent or flourescent floods for them when halogen was so much better. So I took home a bulb of each kind and installed them. It was midday and reasonably bright daylight, although the room I put them in faced north and didn't get direct sunlight. I walked under each with a book open in front of me. The fluorescent and incandescent actually changed the color of the page and didn't add any light, while the halogen left the book page nicely white and brightened it considerably...like augmented natural light. The lighting man had explained something about the direction of the lighting source in each of the different kinds of bulbs, and, but I can't remember the specifics. I guess they can be hot up close, but it's not like they change the temperature of the room or anything. In our last house we had them over the island and in 3 of our major rooms (dining, living, rec room). We loved them so much they are throughout our main floor and those fixtures that aren't made for halogen bulbs have Halogena bulbs. I feel we get more and better lighting for the wattage, so don't need higher watt bulbs, and they dim nicely....See Morereplaceing halogen light bulb in my stove hood
Comments (8)I have the same problem. One bulb twisted easily and dropped into my hand; the other one, not. A handy friend managed to get the reluctant one out, but the bulb failed again soon. I fiddled and fiddled with it, gave up, and finally mentioned it to DH. He reached up and it plopped down into his hand, I do have carpal tunnel and limited strength in my hands; so maybe asking someone else to try might help. I think you may have to have strong hands and hold your mouth exactly the right way to get it to work. Best of luck! Sara...See MoreElectrolux double wall oven replacement bulb halogen
Comments (8)I would not replace with anything but a halogen in this case, even more so because of the dimming circuitry in Electrolux ovens to get the "theater lighting" effect. Not sure how other bulbs would react to that. For some reason the Electrolux consumer website search function doesn't like Canadian model numbers (which yours is). Their service site works much better. The Electrolux part number for your bulb is 318946400, which is a G9, 40W, 120v bulb. I suspect at some point they switched from 25W to 40W, and the ovens can take either. You only need to worry about getting an "appliance bulb" that can handle the high temperatures if it's an incandescent. For halogens, you just need the right base, wattage, and voltage. Here is a G9 120V 40W bulb on Amazon. One of the reviews says it worked in their Electrolux oven. http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-57033-40-Watt-120-Volt-Halogen/dp/B000Z76KDE...See Moremtvhike
