Why not do a white oak floor stained a different shade?

I’ve never seen a fake wood floor that blends well with real wood.

because almost always the real wood reveals the fakiness of the fake wood and makes it look much worse than it would have otherwise.

Because, like putting a real marble backsplash above an engineered, plastic-y fake marble quartz counter, it makes the imitation look even more fake.

But from what I understand, they want the TILE that looks like wood. Not laminate. I've seen it in bathrooms that have wood cabinets and it looks fine. You aren't going to have a cabinet made out of tile that is going to match it exactly and you usually aren't trying to pass it off as wood. It's just tile that has a wood look. I like it. Just my opinion.

Fake and real is a terrible combo. Just because others have made those big mistakes doesn’t not make them mistakes.

If you insist on tile over wood that matches the rest of the house, then look at a natural slate in a charcoal color. Or possibly a gauged quartzite in a subtle versailles pattern. Or a plain large format porcelain that isn’t an obvious stone fake. Maybe something that echoes a subtle stained concrete.

Consider engineered wood SPC core plank flooring. Geowood is one. You get real wood with the water resistance of LVP. This flooring would go with your cab choice.

But if it doesn’t match the wood in the rest of the home, it adds just another dissonent note.

I don't want to hijack this, but now I have a serious question. Does everyone here hate the tiles that look like wood? I have seen them in bathrooms and like them. If you do like them, where should they go? Should they not exist?! I've never seen such a group of righteous opinionated people in my life!

I think wood like tile can look great as long as it is clear you are not trying to replicate a real wood look. My impression is that it can be used with wood cabinets as long as the overall style leans modern/contemporary. I would also select a color that is clearly different than the color of the cabinets.

High quality wood look tile can look great. If you like them, use them through the whole home. Not in patchwork sections. If you don’t care for people giving their opinions on an opinion forum, then why are you on a forum giving your rather rude and judgmental opinion?
