What's up with my pachyclada?

After a summer outside, the leaves on my pachyclada have become kind of mottled light green/darker green and I don't know why. Seems healthy otherwise and has grown quite a bit.

Please note how I decorate my floors with bits of bark and pumice :-)

How is your pachyclada doing, SLD?

Mine has been fine for nearly a year then suddenly started getting yellowing leaves and dropping them.

It's doing fine now. I don't know what caused the mottling. It doesn't show now. Maybe uneven watering at that time? Beats me. I hope yours starts doing well again.

Hi my friends, My husband is at home already, after two months at hospital! Now we have a very long journey to cross! I'm completely stressed and tired, many things to do at same time, including my job!!!! But greatly he is improving! Ima, here where I live (Sao Paulo) we have no idea how my husband got this disease, there is only few cases registered in Brazil (less than 10)! He also soffered from arthritis, like your father, and he treated this disease for 8 years, this was the only symptom he had besides the fever and lost a lot of weight, till the final diagnostic last month! In Brazil this disease is very very rare, and they don't have much to inform us, all I got was studies from other countries like Germany, Argentina and US, I'm getting expert on this disease now! But all the literature shows that most of the people with this disease are or were farmers, and my husband has a farm in the South of Brazil, where he lived for 18 years, he was a farmer!!!! Very strange! Some studies suggest that everybory has this bacteria in their body but for some reason only few people contract the disease due to a problem at their immune system, but this is not proven yet. Thank you everyone for the good wishes, this makes the difference! I only know Alba, which I had the great pleasure to meet when I was in LA, but all of you are in my mind always. Mitzi... when I can finally complete unpacking in my new apt... and have all the curtains hung... and can finally... sit down and spend some time with my camera etc... I will take some pics.. Eileen if Fla.... have a nice trip.. sounds like you took care of your hoya charges!.. Today I did transplant the 3 of my seedlings that had leaves on them into separate plastic yogurt cups.. and set them into a large food storage container and put a plastic bag over them, back under the cfl which is on from the moment I get up until I go to bed.. I will put them on my bakers rack by the window as soon as the doom and gray and rain leave the area and we get some sun... a bit back from the window.. I also made up some seaweed food today for all my plants... the hoyas got first dibs and used a small amt on the seedlings...so.. still hoping.. though the roots on these scraggly babies are so tiny!... maybe it takes a long time to get going... will hover over them daily!... also potted up today my adopted nummeraloides stem.. which rooted in water and a broken brevialta stem, also rooted in water and found a rooted leaf in the pot of the new chelsea I picked up at HD Saturday!... I love those leaves on that beauty!...so.. thanks for listening.. as they say.. somewhere!... keep us posted on your pachy babies! Eileen in Vermont!

Hmmm. Is this indoors or out? Where do you live? If you have pictures of the damage done to the leaves that might help me look this up. Off the top of my head I am honestly not sure, but if I learned nothing else in college biology it is how to figure out what a living thing is called. A little more info would help me greatly. Oh, and this is happening during the day correct so that rules out nocturnal critters.

What a pretty plant. I have to get one of those! I love pachys and my plain one got some sunburn outiside just like the marks on your plant. It's a shame they don't "heal" from burns like we do. It's still a very lovely Hoya and I'd just leave it be. gloria

Thank you! I'm not sure what's happening with mine other than there are some mealybugs. They exist pretty much everywhere now. Some hoyas are less sensitive to them. Pachy could be one that is more sensitive.

I decided to go ahead and repot it today into a terra cotta pot with chunky mix. The roots looked good when I unpotted it. I'll just hope for the best now.

Most of my hoyas are in plastic nursery pots or leca. Kerii seems to prefer terra cotta and I am thinking maybe pachy will too. Hope! At least my pachy isn't a variegated one so if it doesn't make it, it won't be difficult to replace.

From what I've read, I think that pachy does like it a little drier and somewhat sunnier than most Hoyas, so terra cotta probably makes sense. I have mine in plastic pots that I 3d printed that have holes in the sides, so they dry out faster than regular plastic pots. Actually all my Hoyas are either in these pots or terra cotta.

Good that the roots on yours look good. I actually let my variegated one dry out too much, so some of the leaves got kind of dessicated and look a bit crummy. Oh well :-(

One of mine did this and the grower I got it from told me to repot... it was needing fresh nutrients. And since we have a rainy season here he told me to place it in a drier location.
