Beautiful flower bed! :)

I’m pretty sure it’s ’Indigo Spires’. Mine get that sort of faded look this time of year.

I’m not 100% sure, though, hopefully someone will know!

That may be basic blue salvia -- the pictures I have don't give a scientific name. Mystic spires is a common one with that growth habit, but they are more purple. Not sure how much these have faded. You might want to look at this slideshow and see if you can find one like you want. I always have a number of different salvias around -- the butterflies, bees and hummingbirds love them.

I forgot about Mystic Spires, lascatz! It does look like that, too.

And I was thinking it could be Indigo spires -- LOL Its in that category. I had fu looking through the photos and seeing a few I wasn't familiar with. I have hot lips, Wendy;s WIsh, black and blue, Amistad and some others.

I’m actually on the patio looking at my Indigo Spires right now. Bumblebees are all over it every day. :)

Lascatx, they have really faded. The purple on Monday was so vivid from a distance.

Pretty sure they're not Indigo Spires. See the difference in the size of spikes? DIL's are tall and skinny, indigo spires are bushier on the ...spires.

Las, that slideshow is an example of my biggest pet peeve when it comes to pictures of flowers in the garden. I need to see the WHOLE plant at a distance, kwim? Grrrr.

I have Mystic Spires and the ones in the photo don't look like them. Man do the hummingbirds love these.

Hmm, what about Mealycup Sage/ Mealy Blue Sage?

If you want the exact ones, you could collect seed or take cuttings to propagate your own. Without knowing the source of the seeds or the name, it may be difficult to get exactly the same type. Even with a clear close up photo, it may be hard to narrow it down to one of a number. Seeds tend to be old standards or often a variation unique to that grower. This link has a couple that look similar.

You know, I'm not one to complain, snicker, but I work really hard to give someone a gift at Christmas that they would love. My DIL spends all her free time in the garden, greenhouse, and flowerbeds. She grew flowers in her basic flowerbeds at her old house before they married, and this is only her second summer growing plants in a lot of areas here, and she is fantastic!

I bought this Garden Journal as one of her gifts. Click on "Look inside" and scroll down to see how it's used. DS told me she was using it, so why didn't she record the Salvia? I wonder if DS lied? ;)

I may have found it, I sent the link to DIL. Maybe the blue spires weren't as dark as I thought, but they sure were beautiful. Almost delicate looking which this lighter blue does for the plant.
