tomato hornworms
Comments (7)I know they overwinter in the ground as pupae (I've dug them up before), so I would assume that once they feel the cold coming on, they start bedding down for the winter. I can imagine a sudden cold front might catch a few off guard, but the normal thing for them to do is to bury themselves down where they won't freeze (soil is a great insulator). In spring they emerge as moths ready to lay eggs on your newly planted tomatoes....See MoreParasitized Tomato Hornworms
Comments (3)Lucky you! You'll know the wasps have emerged when you see a small hole in the end of the cocoons. And lest you worry, those wasps don't sting people. Not ever. But it's worth it :)...See MoreBiggest tomatoes ever this summer

But I doubt they will make a record in my garden. By the genetics, every given variety has a size limit. The stems with fewer fruits produce bigger onen and vise versa. Also, how does one care for them ( Food and drink !), climate .. make also a difference. Sey...See MorePatti Chicago Zone 5b/6a
