problem strawberries

I'm growing Quinault strawberries in a container, but they are small, misshapen, and just don't look good. I planted them around March, and have been removing the bad fruit in hopes that new fruit will improve, but no luck. From googling, I'm not sure if the problem is poor pollination, lack or nutrients, or a pest. I doubt that pollination is an issue since I've been able to grow strawberries successfully in the past, and other fruits/veggies don't seem to have this issue.

At this point, I'm not sure whether I should give up (because soil is bad), or hold out for improvement. Help!
