What color should I paint the fireplace tile
Comments (15)Yeah, don't paint the tile. It will look cheesy. This is a really small job for a tile-setter and won't cost you much to have someone do it professionally. And there are SOOOOO many tile options these days that are well under $10/sf. Do it once and do it right. You'll be much happier in the end....See MoreHelp! What color should I paint this fireplace? Comments (26)If we could see your furniture and your style, we could make better recommendations. The wide fireplace would be perfect with MCM or modern style. furnishings. But you may be more transitional or farmhouse or another style. You have the good fortune that you can place the 2 focal points, fireplace and TV, right side by side, with the TV over a low cabinet on the hearth. That makes good functional use of the hearth area, so you don't need to think about removing it. Floor matching would need to be attempted if you remove the hearth, so not easy....See MoreShould I paint the fireplace?
Comments (21)peel and stick tiles cost more than cheapo .25 white subway tiles. you can find closeouts on tile at tile stores, online, craigslist, etc. Heck, I found real marble mosaic tile on craigslist for $4 a sq feet. that peel and stick costs triple that. can you guys DIY tile? the current stone looks like it may be slate. you could get a small pint of Romabio and paint the slate. if you pick anything white, you'll have to paint the mantle a brighter white. why don't you try a black tile? or anything besides that peel and stick. doesn't matter if this is your forever home, you're still living here! shouldn't cost you more than 100-200 to tile that surround the correct way if the fireplace is decorative only, I'd just mortar atop the slate and apply my new tile onto it. in any case, you'll have to undo the mantel surround (unless you're really good at cutting perfectly straight edges...See MoreShould I paint my fireplace white?
Comments (7)Don't touch it. It's lovely, warm and classic. The mantle is a nice size and well balanced. Don't chase trends and go all-white. Instead, "dress it". It's a large space, so you need a good bit to "fill it up". Look at mantle styling on Pinterest and see what appeals to you ... mirror? candles? greenery? seasonal decorations? Put something on the hearth too ... some pillows? tall candle stands? a basket for kindling or blankets? The only thing I'd insist upon is that since this is a lot of dark, you ought to use either a mirror or light-toned decorations ... but don't go too extreme in that direction....See MoreRelated Professionals
