Hardwood Floor pads for desk feet

I'm installing engineered hardwood floors in my upstairs office, and want to protect them from the feet of my metal / glass desks. I've seen the felt glue-on pads, but have seen them routinely shift/fall off. I have some leftover floor samples (hard wood, and Pergo, no flex) and was thinking of just gorilla-gluing carpet remnants on the bottom of them, and setting the desk feet on top of the wood squares. Any pro's / con's? The man at Ace Hardware seemed to think it was a good idea (photo below for illustrative purposes, the desk foot pad is ~2" in diameter). I don't really care what it looks like in the office, it won't be noticeable and very few people besides me go in there. Thanks.
