Flooring Design Dilemma Bathrooms

What kind of tile is this?

I’m in the process of renovating my bathroom and absolutely love the flooring in this picture! Unfortunately, I found the picture on an article about the subway tile walls that didn’t even mention the flooring. My best guess is the tile is ~3” hexagons, but the white and gray tiles look like they’re elonged (longer on the sides that are not touching black). It looks like a marble tile (or marbled-look) based on the pattern. Can anyone point me to this type of tile, what it may be called, or where I could get it?

I don't know but I always try to avoid a ton of grout lines in bathrooms especially on floors and I never like white grout so for neither the floor or the walls would work for me .

They are all hexagons, but the white and grey sides are not the same length. I can't imagine how they figured the pattern measurements. OR it is an optical illusion!

But I think you could achieve that same look with all tiles the same size and shape.

Here is a floor with what looks like the same tiles, I found on Houzz. You could contact them for information.

Thank you all! Because we want a curbless shower, I have decided against a pre-cast shower pan. I considered trying to do something custom (corian maybe) for the shower area, but in addition to expense, that left the bathroom floor and the need for that transition from one material to the other to be waterproof as well. Which led me back to tile. And if I'm having tile for the bathroom floor, I've got the cleaning issue anyway and I might as well go with just one material to get the continuous look and save some money. I'd be willing to re-consider though if someone has information about making a pre-cast shower pan for a curbless shower work well with a non-tile bathroom floor. I'm definitely planning on somewhat dark grout. I'm figuring a medium grey tile and matching grout are going to hide dirt the best. But I also want it to be as easy to get really clean as possible when I do clean. Thanks for the information about ceramic tile working well for tight grout lines!

You can paint the backsplash with a special tile paint, but it is only a stop gap measure and it probably would not hold up on the countertop - then you have scratched paint look which would be worse. I had an inexpensive piece of home center butcher block on my island for several years, and it held up very well - and my cabinets are oak too. I did not really want to add more wood to the kitchen, but in the end it was what I could afford and looked fine - and for less than $150. Use a gel foam bleach cleaner. Its not going in your septic system, if you scrub your floors, unless you dump the dirty water down the drain. Once it is nice and clean, have it sealed, so its easier to clean.

I wouldn't advise having real marble on a bathroom floor, but you should be able to replicate that look with a porcelain tile. Although the different colors may look like different sizes, there is a good chance that this is an optical illusion. If there is a tile store or flooring store convenient to you, go there with your picture so they can help you. Lowes and Home Depot aren't the best places for answering this question. If you're going to lay it yourself, you would be better off choosing something that is sold in square foot pieces (it has kind of a mesh backing to hold the smaller pieces that make up the pattern together). However, I also wouldn't recommend DYI by someone inexperienced with this type of floor.

It looks like Carrera marble gray and black hexagon tile.

Could it be a mosaic tile? The hexagon tile is at the centre of the "flower" pattern.

The tile is a mix of convex hexagons containing both "regular" and "irregular" hexagon shapes. Reach out to high end tile vendors for assistance. If that fails, seek a Tile Pro with superb math skills who can custom-cut this pattern.

The hexagons are all the same size, they look about 3". Could be marble, a mix of White Carrara, Grigio Bardiglio and Nero.

I'm ok with lots of floor groutlines as long as it's a color that's easy to maintain. the grout in the inspiration photo looks medium grey, so that seems perfect. white grout gets dirty fast, black grout can look ashy.

I'm not sure how often you need to reseal floor grout though, so that's a maintenance consideration.
