Hello all! I am aware that this is an older thread but I still like to throw in my two cents when I have a chance. I love trying to grow and cultivate new plants, this spring one of the plants I attempted to grow started from an old packet of seeds I had simply named sensitive plants. I am not sure how many seats I actually started with but I soak them overnight in warm water in very early spring then I put them into clear Tupperware in a sunny windowsill. I now have five pretty darn good looking plants. The only thing I wanted to add to this thread was what I used for potting soil... The mix...sorry no ratios succulent potting soil seedling potting soil smashed up all of the old sea shells I had laying around a small amount of fresh coffe grounds from my morning coffee Took The burnt logs out of my fire pit none of which were pine, I then smashed bits of burnt log off with a hammer and crushed it up into a fine powder and added it to the rest of my soil mixture! I do have one QUESTION. My plants have leaves the color is great but it is now September and I started growing them indoors far before spring even started. They lived outside almost all summer and seemed to do great. The only peculiar thing is, they are only about 1 inch to 2 inches tall! Does anyone know why that would be? Also any comments on my DIY potting soil mixture would be greatly appreciated. I have had great luck with using it to pot all of my of my plants...some required tweaking

cut it about 4 foot.. and hope it rebuds ... then spend 5 years removing excess leaders.. and pruning the tree into tree form ... and all that is nbd .... all that said... lets hope the sun variable has changed enough that it grows straighter up ... i suspect that in priming for the house sale.. someone went in there. .and removed a jungle.. and perhaps that is why it grew in this form ... if you arent up for the challenge.. cut it flush to the ground and apply a stump killer.. and be done with it.. and buy and plant another in better light conditions in the next proper season ... see primer link below.. section one ... it is very hard to plant and grow babes under the canopy of very old large trees ... as all trees are full sun plants ... but also.. the water competition .... ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub

I bought one this spring and am really happy with it! I have mine in the ground and plan on digging it up in about a week or 2 before the 40s hit. It has doubled in size and has 3 inflos on it. Its a beautiful plumeria and is perfect except the blooms have no scent!! They dont seem to really mind cooler weather and have thrived in a full sun spot in my yard. Its also an evergreen plumeria. A few of my plumerias are developing some yellow leaves with the shorter days and cooler weather, but this one has stayed a nice green! Heres a pic of it this spring. It had no leaves and almost died which is why I put it in the ground. Heres a pic of it as of this week crushed a little by an areca palm after Tropical Rainstorm Nicole And heres from about 2 days ago of the newest blooms and with the old inflo still blooming as well. It is definitely a unique plant and I really do like the look of it as well as its ability to bloom very well! -Alex

As a follow up question, I was wondering if there are some kinds of mimosa that are not sensitive at all. My nephew has what he says is mimosa and apparently it is quite large, but he says that it does not "fold up" at all when touched. My sister is also growing some in her green house. She planted them around the 14 of Feb, they are quite big now but they are also not sensitive to touch. They do however fold up when the sun goes down. Does anyone know why this may possibly happen? Do they need to be a certain age before they will develop the sensitive thing? Thanks :)
