I think the gray you have chosen will work really well with the stone, so I would not worry about staining them. Personally, I've seen painted stone and it is not an improvement.

You might want to paint the white siding a dark shade of the brick.

I agree with Houssaon. If you still want to do something with the stone, why not make the grout the same gray as the brick?

I'm no pro but I think changing the color of only the brick will enhance the stone better giving a richer color overall. And if the budget allows, consider changing the portico siding to match the grey, and change the porch posts to squared off type posts and/or cedar posts. Just changing brick color will be a nice update!

Yes good Idea but I will also change the door to a modern white door. The current door is very old.

Getting rid of the two story overhang and changing the front door would improve the appearance even more. You have such a deep overhang, I don't think you need a portico, but you could install a gable style one just over the door.

I would pick some color from stones, leaving high portico.

Or garage door is the same as front one.
