Having the trim painted on my new house. Love to freshen up with a more modern look with just paint on trim, stucco, door, porch and maybe garage door. Can I go darker? Charcoal, Greige? Punch of something on the door? The stone has a variety of colours to pull from and is pretty neutral. It seems so busy and I don't know where to start and end a new colour. Thanks for any advice! Thanks for info. Keep the windows. The diamond panes were an expensive luxury when the house was built and they still look great. Paint the door white or a terracotta to match one of the brighter bricks. Test colors on foamcore, not the door. Remove the shutters and store them for the next owner. However, if the bricks have discolored behind the shutters and you can't clean them up. put the shutters back up and paint them denim blue or sage green. Paint the door to match. The roof needs cleaning. It is the single most noticeable thing about the house itself. Pressure wash the sidewalk. There is nothing you can do to keep a golf course sod lawn looking perfect if you have renters. Use some fertilizer and compost on the existing grass, then hire a gardener to care for it every week or two. Pretty good, not golf course pretty, is good enough. When you are ready to put it on the market, buy a new door mat and some gallon pots of bright blooming annuals to plant out front. Change the light fixtures to something black and transitional, not carriage lamps like you have now.

I'm guessing I may have to put a step down all the way across? I just want to really update the look of the house overall but keep with the style of the house and not make it something it is not. And thank you for saying its awesome. We do love it and want to stay here for another dozen years. :) @littlebug zone 5 Missouri Yes, this picture is of snow melt along the garage doors. In fact, I just updated those 5 years ago. Yikes. The front landscaping will be redone this year but the pic is early spring. It actually fills in with a bunch of hostas... Quick update - The selection of Edgecomb Gray as a base color turned out to be a flesh-toned nightmare cross builders beige in my house that it had to come down. We are the process of getting those areas repainted to Gray Owl, which works well in my house. An expensive mistake, but it looked so much different on the wall en masse than in the samples painted. I won't even post pictures of it as it is so awful. On a positive note, Revere Pewter, Stonington Gray and Gray Owl landed well. Current status is a mess, but removing the two level counter, the desk area and the over cooktop cabinet really opened things up:
