Wow, thank you so much for relying so fast. Regarding whether pompeii or antique white, we were thinking same colors for the kitchen and the living room, only because there are 2 pillars where the railing are and we dont like how one side of the pillar is burgundy and the other side is beige. If we decide on different colors for the kitchen and living room, would the transition from antique white to neutral white/warm white on the pillar look weird?

I suspect EVERYTHING is going to look so much better once you get rid of the purplybrown paint. The cabinets are pretty. The floor is pretty. That wall color is amazing...amazingly awful. :)

You could change the color between the two rooms, but if you're looking at whites, just choose one color that works for both spaces. Paint will be such a nice change!

Any recommendations of what type of benjamin moore off-white paint color that would go well with brown cabinets? I'm between white dove, silver satin (not sure if silver will work with brown), and swiss coffee. I heard that swiss coffee can have a green tone to it depending on lighting.

Go to Youtube and look for postings regarding picking the right "white" paint.

Lots of things to consider before you decide which one. Many factors to consider including how much natural light you have in your home. And from what I have read, sample boards that you look at - at different times of the day.

You could get some lighter colored bar stools.

My local Ace sells trial sizes of common BM paint colors--some sample boards to rotate around the house at different times of the day should be easy to do.

If you intend to keep the current kitchen backsplash, you might look for some whites that lean a little gray to help it fit in.

White Dove or Swiss Coffee may work. You need to try the samples in your house with your lighting to see. Try the samples up against your cabinets, hardwood, and carpet.

If your goal is to brighten the kitchen we might suggest trying to go with a paint that would go with the current backsplash. If you are considering redoing the backsplash and/or countertops then we might suggest doing that first and then painting.

We decided to go w silver satin matte walls and white dove trim in semi gloss!!! Keeping the backsplash. Will post pics when it’s done. We r also thinking of redoing this room- ugly wall paper. Which pattern is better? Gray on top or bottom.

Grey on bottom. Heavy on bottom light on top. Think of your clothes. Black pants with white blouse looks better than white pants with black blouse. Heavy/dark on bottom light on top.

The darker color on the bottom for sure, but I would stay away from gray, unless this room is separate from everything else. Your kitchen, the floors, and all your furniture would look better with warmer colors, or at least neutral colors imo. You could use the White Dove in your kitchen and continue it into the top of this room. But putting gray on all your walls is going to look instantly outdated and out of sync with everything else imo.

Follow up Question: what new floor stain with the silver satin wall color? Espresso, jacobean, pecans dark walnut, special walnut or provincial?
