I hope it's not weird. I've been doing that for a long time. IMO, that's in the same category as having an interior door in a different color on either side. I find that I do prefer that the edges be the same color as the exterior or hall color. To be honest, how many people ever notice? It's the sort of thing we pay no attention to until we are nose-to-nose with making a decision, and then we realize we've never really looked at what others do. Unless they are interior decorators or painters, it's probable that the "others" are not going to pay any attention to what we do.

How about a nice brass plaque that says WC? it's discrete at least. Or "toilet" if you want to be more direct. First take a deep breath...then wait a few months. Decide the basics; do you want higher baseboards, a different trim color, different flooring? Decide on things you wish to change, make a list, then make a plan. Piecemeal decisions create more work...and expense. Example: you want to replace flooring, let's say with an engineered wood. To do so properly, you have to remove all your freshly painted baseboards. Plan the work, work the plan.
