It's Summer. Lets show our harvests.
Comments (96)I've picked a few more zukes since Friday's first harvest, got a few more on the vines, 1 got pretty big yesterday so I'm leaving it until tomorrow since DS is coming home late tonight and he likes it grilled. Picklebush cukes seem to be growing pointed on the ends - the 1 I left to fill out got kind of big, I think I'm going to slice these all up and make bread and butter pickles for my dad, I don't have any left from last year. It has been a very disappointing year, I've been to market twice since it started a month ago and haven't had much to bring except for jams and jellies (and tomato plants, strawberries 1 week, haven't gone with blueberries since we had a heat wave right after I picked a lot and market is in a parking lot, forecast was 99 degrees that day so I just froze them). Veggies are really slow, though the oregano that overwintered is in flower, the basil (seeded this year) is finally getting big enough to cut (I should have planted more), the dill looks great, and the volunteer cilantro has bolted and is starting to form seeds (yeah!!). I haven't checked the beans or tomatoes out back since I watered them Sunday - beans were flowering but no beans yet, some fruit set on tomatoes but even the cherries aren't full-sized yet, they're going to take a while to ripen. The blackberries were starting to really turn color, I might have wild blackberries before an veggies (other than these squash and cukes)!...See MoreTime to show off our Adenium pictures!!!!
Comments (159)Hello Yovan, best to start a new thread if you want to ask specific questions regarding your plants, that way, you will get more attention and answers than you will by tagging it onto a thread with another subject line. Plus this thread is old as I started it when the forum had just begun. It now has many posts so takes an age to load on some devices. Just go to the main Adenium page and commence a new thread with an appropriate title that catches people's eye and you will get some replies....have a go! :-) also, please add some location info after your name, that will help give better advise as we then have an idea of your climate/conditions. Comments (21)Congratulations, Donnakay!! I resolve to stop waiting for stuff to arrive and to actually have a kitchen. I plan (but not so strong as resolve) to have bi-weekly dinners for family and friends ostensibly for conviviality and to nurture relationships, but also to experiment on them as I learn to do all kinds of things with my gonzo new appliances that were just not possible with the half dead old kitchen. Cat_Mom, I had the whole recipe problem until one day I decided I'd just had it with the multiple pages of notepad paper with family recipes, and the clipped outs, and dumped them all on my desk. Turned on the TV to interesting but not very visual entertainment, and didn't get my desk back until I'd typed my way through the lot. My recipes directory as all kinds of sub-directories like a cookbook but with my own kind of categories. It makes it SO easy. I do print out ones that need specific following, and keep the print-outs in a basket in the kitchen, where they're handy to give away to those who ask, or to reuse. But when I'm planning, making shopping lists, etc., or when one gets just too grotty, I can print out a new one. I highly recommend this!! In fact, I also resolve to type up recipes that I like that are in books, because I can't always find the right one. And since I use them as a starting point usually, remembering the outcome doesn't always help (as in the bread pudding recipe didn't call for poppy seeds...so which one was it now?)...See MoreLets "show off" folks!
Comments (7)Glad you told us corks, I thought at 1st it was chenille stems curled with a tool, yrs ago I made purple & lavender grapes with green velvety leaves magnets for fridge & they sold like crazy, Everybody loved the purple, chenille stems are not as plush any more so probably wouldn't work. Love this & what is backing & how many corks? I don't drink & don't have enough corks for even a trivet but this is really fun idea! Bet they were thrilled!...See MoreStush2049 Pitts. PA, zone 6
