Redesign small living room help needed
Comments (12)I would get a light colored low key rug bigger than the one in the photo. Put the TV where the sofa is now, and the sofa opposite that with 2 end tables. A swivel chair for near the back wall, and maybe an accent guest chair on the side with the tv near the dining room. The arched entry to the dining room limits how "sleek and minimal'' you can be, but you certainly don't have to be old fashioned or cluttered. Everything sen below is from All Modern with other colors available...See Moreliving room help
Comments (9)Keep the TV in the current configuration and location. Hang the TV on the flower table wall. Pull the sofa away from both walls by 6" or more if you can. Get a nice rug for under the whole sofa area. Curtains for the window. Figure out what you need for an entry area that can exist where the TV currently lives. Chair and console table? The little half table and some wall hooks?...See MoreLiving Room help.
Comments (13)Since you don't know about decorating, first step is to post a Houzz Design Dilemma that shows all four sides of your space and some measurements so we can help you with layout first. You're only showing three sides. Stand against the far wall and take a photo so we can see the other side of the room. After that, you'll get better advice. Oh, provide a photo of the current TV wall. Can't see what dark thing is at far end on that wall: doorway? furniture? First impression: Sea of gray and giant brown furnture. So you'll want to balance that out with some pattern in the form of a rug, some art work, great lighting, possible change of wall paint. It's gray and gloomy right now. But post a photo of the fourth wall of the room so you can get layout right first. Here is how to post a Design Dilemma. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6417709/unofficial-design-dilemma-boot-camp Keep in mind that you're inviting some design pros and people with a design eye into your home via photos. If they walked into your actual space, they would take in all of it: all four sides, doorways, floors, windows, ceiling, trim--the "givens"--then the features that can be changed--furnishings, paint, art, rugs, decor items, etc. It's all one first impression. Same thing with photos. That's why it's important to provide well lit photos of the entire space, taken from all sides of a room regardless of the size of your problem....See Moreliving room help
Comments (6)It looks like the rug is most likely the right size, however we suggest placing the pieces fully on the rug. Currently they are too far apart. You also might consider adding an accent color or some artwork to the space. Notice, how in these designs of ours, the furniture is close enough for everyone to reach the coffee table....See MoreHU-183127057
