Have fun with it. They're in different rooms but even if they were in an open floor plan you can still use different colors. We have a Turkish Kilim rug in our living room with reds, tans and blues. But our dining room, which is adjacent too and not separated from the living room, I'll use a different style rug sticking to the reds, tans, and greens because that's our overall house style. We don't do blues or grays.

Usually you can coordinate by having one color represented in all your rooms. I used navy blue. My LR has an oriental with navy background. Traditional. My DR has navy blue walls & curtain panels in navy, white, aqua & gray bargello pattern. Transitional. FR & kitchen also have touches of the navy blue

Thank you for your input! I’m wondering if ivory could be my connecting color. I also have slashes of red in my dining room art work. I know it’s a stretch, but replacing my living room rug isn’t an option as it was expensive and only 6 years old.

Please excuse the mess. My kids had play dates and this is a pic of the aftermath. I’m wondering if I can use the ivory in both rugs as the common thread across all rooms. There is red in my cow wall art that connects to the red in the living room rug, ivory, alabaster walls, green accents in both rooms. Do you think I’d be able to get away with both rugs?
