What evergreen ground cover for this bumpy/ rooty area? (Zone 6b)

What evergreen ground cover would you plant here, in this bumpy/ rooty/ poor area between my gravel driveway and my neighbor's fence? It would get stepped on a couple of times a week (we don't use our car much, especially not the passenger side). This strip is on the northwest side of my house, but it does manage to get a pretty good amount of sun. We are in Zone 6B (Boston). I talked to my neighbors and they are not concerned if my ground cover creeps under their fence--that area their side is not particularly cultivated anyway--and they said that whatever I pick is fine. I know they like vinca (they have some in their yard), but I'm afraid that wouldn't look very nice if stepped on/ crushed. I was thinking maybe ajuga? But some people's reports of its invasiveness give me pause. I would love any ideas. Thank you!
