What did you order, double pane or single pane or unspecified? If you ordered double-pane, then that's what you should get. Contact the seller, but if it's their error in sending the wrong merchandise, your cost should be minimal (should have been refused upon delivery, but how often are we there when it comes?!) If it wasn't specified, and you really want double pane (they make beveled glass in double-pane???) then the error is yours and you should contact the company to see what the cost and waiting time will be for replacement. The difference in insulative value between single and double-pane will depend on the size of the glass area and the type of seal, as well as whether or not the glass is treated for low-E. Also affecting the value are indeterminants such as whether the door is facing the predominant winds, whether it is in an alcove, whether it opens onto an enclosed foyer or an open living space.

No it will not dekeoboe. We were building our cat's room in the garage and I wanted to be able to clean in from the garage with a window or large dog door and it wouldn't pass code. So if you do have one installed you need to know it might have to be removed upon sale of your house (ie door replaced with fire rated door). I used to crawl through the dog door in a rental we had whenever we lost the keys. It was a medium size and I was limber and skinny :) It did teach me about the issues of having a door anyone can skinny through easily. We were never robbed, but I'd not put one on my home now knowing how easy they are to get in. I do like the idea of the electronic one though...much safer. I've installed a gazillion cat doors myself OP. You need a kit (hd has them) a drill and a jig saw. It comes with a pattern and you drill in the corners then just cut the holes in a solid wood door. Easy stuff really. The kit hides your jiggly jig saw cuts if that's an issue. If you can't do that you can easily hire a handy man or woman to do it I would think...It's really not rocket science. I only suggest this because it sounds like you're not finding what you want and it's a pretty easy solution. Ours are always then painted to match the door so they blend in better. I'm going to add one to our hall to laundry in the next few weeks so I can keep the litter box out there (it's in our closet room now...I prefer it not be LOL). I miss our kitty room!

Has anyone had a wood door from Simpson or Pella? They are my two leading contenders to replace my front entry door. I am planning to put a storm door over the wood door. Pella doesn't honor their warranty with the use of a screen door. I can get the Pella door unfinished from Lowe's for just of $1000 and I think the Simpson door is going to be more. Simpson does honor their warranty with the use of a storm door though. The Simpson door slab weighs around 80 lbs which seems reasonable for my to handle for install and I am waiting to hear back from Pella on their door's weights. I was a bit spoofed on the weight issue when some of the wood doors I was looking at on Home Depot listed weights between 200 and 240 lbs. A bit much to handle and worried about the long term stability of my 2x4's holding such a beast. Any thoughts will be apreciated! Dave

Ultimately way back when we did go with Codel. Overall, we were happy with thr quality of the door, purchased through Lowes. HOWEVER, the first door came with the wrong hole drilled for our chosen handle. blame it on mistake by Lowes employee. This was all before Covid… Codel delivered a replacement door in three weeks! install went well, Lowes contractor was great. One note: if you install a door this big and heavy, be sire to use hefty hardware. We experienced some sag about 6 months later due to insufficient bolts from Codel. our handyman easily fixed the problem.
