Nice set up Lyle. I'm fairly new to the seed starting indoors. Here is my generic, working on a budget, adapt as they grow setup. hehehe I hope to have about 125 to 150 seedlings indoors this winter. Little plastic cups contain seeds. Plasic covered starter trays with seeds that have germinated on the right. On the left are seedlings that got to large for the trays with lids so they were potted in 4 inch pots. My lights are just metal domes with grow lights. Not much reflection so I hung Aluminum foil on the back of the rack. I have other racks in my room that as I need them I will adapt to them my needs. I'm hoping to keep them in 4 inch pots til next spring. If not I will move them up to 1 gal pots. All my seeds were started in August. Not doing to bad in just about a months time. These babies are 2 inches. Andrea

I LOVE dimmers, but be aware there are some limitations. Regular dimmers don't work with compact flourescent bulbs, and if you want to dim from 2 locations on a 3-way, you need to go to a VERY expensive dimmer set. Also, if you're doing the wiring yourself, be aware that it can be really hard to stuff all those wires in a box with multiple dimmers -- I nearly tore my hair out wiring one box with three dimmers in the 3-gang box! However, I have dimmers in my kitchen (over the island and over the sink), dining room (everywhere -- the ambient light is perfect for eating), Hallway, Living room can lights, Master bathroom (all lights except shower -- dimming the light over the toilet really, really low at night works well for a nightlight), Master bedroom (all lights except closet) and guest bedroom (track lights). I didn't put dimmers on the entry hall lights, laundry room light, guest bath light or stairway lights. We use nearly all the dimmers we installed, except the one over the tub (since it's such a dim light to start with) and the bedroom lights we never turn on! Plus, it's so easy to replace a "normal" switch with a dimmer (even I can do it!) that you're never stuck with your initial decision.

I used low profile stainless LED strips from ebay, I think the sellers name was ledpro and he gets them direct. They are the exact same as Environmental sells but a fraction of the cost. The power box is not the same as Environmental sells though. I did research to make sure ledproâÂÂs were to code, they are, read the specs. I found out the hard way not to mention you bought your ledâÂÂs from anyone other than Environmental if you want to buy their power box which is very expensive. Everything shipped pretty fast too. After two and a half years, no problems and all works well.

Went recently with LED for the energy efficiency and heat reasons above. Our electrician said that 2-3 years ago, LED was not a good choice because a lot of it was poorly made and would have diodes burning out in 1 year instead of the 25 you are supposed to get with them. He felt better about some of the newer models. The lights we have are not blue like a lot of LEDs, but they aren't as warm as traditional incandescent either...
