BedRoom: Area Rug on Carpeted Floor and Under the Bed
Comments (12)I did that in my guest room - no problem at all. The carpet is pretty low pile and the rug is a fairly thick sculpted type oriental. I have no pad under the rug. I also have a very short, dense wool oriental rug on the carpet in my living room. That also works fine. I have all these rugs on carpet because I moved from a house with wood floors to one with more carpet. I hope to get rid of the carpet someday when I feel like moving everything again. So then I will need the rugs and in the meantime I can't stand the plain beige carpet. In another room I have a thick wool runner that covers the width of carpet from the deck door to the wood floor in the dining area. It has no furniture on it that holds it in place so it ripples a bit. I need to find a way to keep it flat....See MoreHelp with bedroom nightstands and makeing them work in room.
Comments (23)I hope you'll be able to show us your progress. Using something thar your great grandmother probably made herself-few things can hold more significance, in my opinion. It's something so unique to have and use. My great grandmother whom I never met..I'd be so happy to have something of hers. Well I do have something of hers, but all immaterial)) And material things, something you can touch..it doesn't come instead of course, but it does have deep meaning. as for the dust, maybe can be cleaned very carefully? I know I wouldn't take anything precious to our dry cleaners who somehow ruined already three of my dresses/blouses..but you might know somebody who knows what he does, or at least can give you good advice....See MoreHelp transform my small bedroom into bedroom + office space.
Comments (3)So I just tweeked your current plan a little bit by doing pier style cabinets on either side of the bed. Then you don’t have to have a nightstand. Or you can just do full height wardrobes. You will have to account for the jogs in the wall so that the bed is positioned so that you can get the doors open. Then the desk would be opposite the bed and possibly add a little bookcase. I am showing a queen sized bed....See MoreGuest bedroom help please - Paint, Decor, Nightstands
Comments (7)What are the paint colors in the rest of the home? What will the flooring be? My first thought for your room (without knowing more) was BM Pashima. It’s a warm and neutral greige. I’ve always painted my guest rooms in lightly warm colors, and gotten lots of compliments for how cozy they feel. I think navy curtains sound great, and I’d keep the beige sheets. You can see how Pashima looks deeper depending on light (do a search for lots more examples) — Being a greige tone, it looks good with warm or cool colors. In this light, it takes on a more gray feel: It is fairly monochromatic, I don’t know if you like that (I do), but good for adding in accent colors. I’m not sure what a lighter version on the Pashima color strip might be, but it might be worth looking into if you feel this is too dark....See MoreJennifer Shull
