Craftsman Tractor 'clicks' when key turned
Comments (10)Hi everyone, I bought a Craftsman tractor with 18.5 HP Brigs engine less than 3 years ago. I am now having problems with the ignition. Last week, I was mowing as usual, suddently the engine vibrated and then stopped. It took me a few hours to find out that the fuse blew up. I replaced a new fuse and tried to restart many times but the engine never start again. I opened up the cover to take a look inside. It looks to me that the starter gear engaged with the flywheel everytime I tried to start but the flywheel has too much resistance to freely rotate again. I don't know what else to do with it since I don't know much about engine. I am not happy at all with this situation since I feel it is not worth of $1500 and the money for the maintenance of changing oil filter, spark plug, air filter every season (changing oil very often). I called the Sears repair sevices and they told me it would cost me $100 just for having a service man shows up at my door. I don't want to continue spending too much money on my untrusted Craftsman tractor anymore. I would like to ask your opinions on how bad it is with my tractor and if it would cost me a lot of money to repair it. If it costs me about half of the purchase price, I would get rid off it and I will never walk into Sears store to touch any Craftsman products again. Thanks in advance for your advice! Comments (6)I'm dealing with the same thing. I also live in a high rise. It's in Jersey City, 31 River Court to be exact. I hear the billiard ball, loud weird clangs like someone's hitting the heater with something ( when all the heating is off in my apartment ), and quieter taps and knocks in response to my movements and when I'm breathing agitated when I'm laying down. I sleep on a futon mattress on the floor. My boyfriend also hears the same noises but he says not to worry about it. I've dealt with weird issues like tapping sounds at a bunch of the apartments I've lived at before. I feel like I'm losing my mind but I know I'm not imagining it, my boyfriend hears it too. It's worse when I'm alone. I have the week off this week. I'm starting freelancing at another place next week. It's been so hard. I just got ear plugs and they provide some relief. If I heard this from someone a couple years ago, I would think that they had some problems or were imagining it. I know I sound like I make no sense. It's real, I know something's up. I have no clue why this keeps happening. I've moved so many times. It's the first time I've heard the billiard ball. At other places though, I heard tapping on the walls or ceiling or floor. I wonder if it's because I breathe agitated when I'm laying down. I wonder if people can hear me or feel it, my body feels twitchy when I'm upset and breathing weird. The taps happen in response to my twitchy body movements when I'm laying down. I wonder if it's bothering a neighbor. The problem is I can't voluntarily stop it because I'm so upset and feel scared at home because I've been dealing with these issues. I wonder if some neighbor thinks I'm doing it intentionally and taps because they're annoyed. My boyfriend and everyone I know thinks this is crazy and no one can hear or 'feel' breathing through walls and ceilings/floors. It doesn't sound logical to me either but I have no other explanation. I'm confused and overwhelmed so it's hard to talk clearly about it. I always live in apartments. I'm moving to a house as soon as I can save some money. I need relief. It's just so hard. Any feedback would be appreciated but only if it's constructive or if you've had similar experiences. It would be really nice to hear from the original poster if possible to see how they dealt with it. Thank you for your time....See Morecomputer making clicking sounds..
Comments (10)If the sounds are coming from the speakers then it might be just when the computer looks for updates online for the various programs. If it comes from the tower itself then perhaps it is as the hard drive activates, mine is a noisy hard drive but the particular model is known for that. Keeping a computer running or not is purely a personal choice, neither way is right or wrong necessarily. I ran mine for years when they were doing some distributed computing trying to find a cure for cancer. Never hurt them at all, just the hydro bill. Still run mostly 24/7 through laziness I s'pose. Wouldn't hurt to hang on to the box for a while, once you are satisfied the computer is running good than you might decide to get rid of the box....See MoreCan you glue down a click-n-lock engineered wood floor?
Comments (7)Although not in any way 'necessary' due to the self-interlocking nature of the click system. (In fact that was why it was developed) However, there is absolutely no reason I can ascertain why the click systems can't also be nailed or glued down to the substrate if desired just like an engineered T+G system if one likes the totally solid feel underfoot. Solid wood flooring is nailed or glued down to try to limit its thermal movement. Engineered flooring is in fact cross plyed layers of wood anyway which are all glued to each other to enhance stability. So fixing it again down to the substrate rather than installing in a floating way would have no adverse effects. It would be in no way any messier (as suggested by user floorguy) than any other system ! It is all in the skill of the installer. Not all DIYers are hacks after all. Infact they can do a better/neater job than a pro as they are not conscience of the time to finish and move on to the next job. But like i said, it rather goes against the point of the system BUT can be done if required. Achitect...See MorePenny Locker
