Comments (94)Oh yay! I'm so glad that it worked for you! I thought that it might. I also do not love the ball at the bottom, but for the price you really can't beat it! It's very light, but comes in a huge box. The shades are paper (I believe) and there are candles underneath. Since it's still pretty much boxed up, I can't tell you how it would look without the shades (I didn't open up the shade boxes). I was thinking about the same thing. My husband said he could live with the brass as I was going to get the nickel one (really for him). By the time we decided on the nickel, they were all sold out everywhere. I mean everywhere! So, I got the same one you got in the same finish for less on ebay. I thought for the price, I could spray it too. FYI: I called maaco and they quoted me 125 to spray it chrome without a clearcoat 185 with. Just in case you didn't want the hassle of painting. Glad it worked! :) Kim...See MoreDining Rm furniture - just delivered... ?
Comments (31)I think the room looks great! The dining set is very nice, I think you just need to bring a few older items in to balance its newness. Maybe run a row of vintage enamelware or ironstone pitchers down the center of the table. I think adding something with some patina would look great. A large chunky throw pillow in each of the host and hostess chairs could be fun. A big ol' tree in a chunky basket in the corner would add lots of life and height to the room. And it would love all of the wonderful light you have in there. I love the windows too but think it could be a big black wall at night. If it we me, I would put some bamboo shades on the windows to bring more texture and warmth to the room (or one large custom shade that sat above the three windows). During the day, the sun can shine in, but then I could lower them at night - I would want the option for some coziness after dark. Personally, I would be tempted to avoid bright pops of color and keep the room low contrast, airy and more monochromatic, but I love that look :) Enjoy - it is a lovely room!...See MoreDining Rm help plz..Wall art, light fixture, curtains, and centerpeice
Comments (35)OK - I thought a little sketch would help. you need about a 12" drop of chain from the top of the ceiling, then a max size fixture of 30" long (top of ring to the chandelier to the bottom crystal or bottom.), then 33" above the table to the bottom of the chandelier. So, max 30" high, 28" max round, and for some chandeliers depending on the design, might be able to go to 30 wide. Chain drop is easiest to deal with from an installation point of view. Hope that explains the sizing....See MoreLow Dining Room Ceiling. Help!
Comments (10)You have a nice sized dining room. Its not the 8 ft ceiling that makes it appear small. Yes, the light fixture could be updated but it isn't what is causing your room to appear small. The furniture you have up against the wall on the right back area behind the table and to the left are protruding into the room and causing the room to be much smaller than the dimensions would indicate. Do these pieces need to stay? Also the busy art on the back left contributes to the confined feeling. Do you need the extra furniture in the room? To get spacious: remove one or both pieces of extra furniture, clear off all the small items (including the welcome sign) from the back console top if you don't remove that entire piece to another room, change your drapery so that it is an updated style (hung at the sides of the window and above the window, not criss-crossing), change out the small pieces of art for one large piece. Change the light fixture. Drapes should be hung like this diagram's drapes on the right. The lower they are hung the smaller the room looks IMO. Also covering up the window contributes to the small feeling....See MoreRL Relocation LLC
