new apartment design help needed

Hi everyone I’m renting an apartment and I am trying to find ideas for decorating my kitchen and also to create more counter space. I’m looking for ideas on how to do that. I’m also looking for ideas of where to place a kitchen eating table. I love industrial and contemporary design

It's nice that you tried to create a floor plan and gave dimensions. However, the kitchen area you are asking for help with doesn't match up with the photos you provided. You say there is only 31" of floor space between the cabinets and the wall, but I can see at least 50". I'm guessing you measured the space between the refrigerator and the wall?

Unless there are cabinets that I can't see on the wall opposite the sink area, you have room for a 30" square 2-person table with chairs right there. If you want a table for more people it should move into the living room, because dining tables start at about 36" wide by 60" long, although you can find drop-leaf tables that take up slightly less room. There might also be space for storage across from the range. Wire shelving is great for pantry items, freeing up counter space and allowing more cabinet space for dishware and cookware.

Wow. Thanks for the quick replies. The couch/loveseat are more of a traditional style mainly due to the look and fabric. A slipcover would certainly modernize them a bit by covering up the lines and changing to a solid colour. I'm after slightly more modern look. Ideally, i'd like to just buy new furniture but I don't think it's in the cards right now. The orange and olive green are definitely hitting me. I was looking at some heavier drapes in almost a burnt orange colour but wasn't sure how they would play with the blue furniture. I'll have to put some thought to that. I'll try to grab a quick photo of the room as it is now. Aside from the furniture, it's pretty much a blank slate at this point - couch/loveseat, a cheap Ikea coffee table and the television/stand. I've already had thoughts about replacing the coffee table (beech)/tv stand (dark gray) so the colour of those elements isn't of major concern.

Hmmm... though not sure her TV will be all that large, so in our somewhat visually impaired family, that is not that far! And 60" is definitely NOT in her budget... most likely she will take one of ours that is maybe 36." I do still like your catty-cornered arrangement, thinking maybe with both the couch and TV pulled out some it may look less like "clear across the room" especially if one was sitting in the chair closer to the TV.

You'll be better off using Houzz to search for a professional near you. However I can tell you right now 1that your budget is not nearly high enough. 15-20k won't likely even cover the kitchen portion let along designing and purchasing furniture for the entire place. Good luck.

you have a good base. all you need are accessories. art. here are similar furniture ideas to yours, but look at the overall room I love something like this w/your white sofa and rug. some nice contrast. and the art and decor items all blend in well or something like this if you need something for the tv
