What color to paint a huge fireplace surround??
Comments (9)Vistas Interior Design, thank you so much. The [photo[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/forest-avenue-modern-family-room-orlando-phvw-vp~2100924) you linked to looks beautiful. I never would've considered this possibility. That approach would shift the focus to whatever art, etc. we decide to decorate with. Houssaon, that's another extremely interesting suggestion--hanging a painting with some green would incorporate the green tiles in a way we might like. This is perhaps the easiest solution of all and it wouldn't require us to re-paint the tiles! Thanks! Sophie, I really appreciate the warning. We are inexperienced and will definitely proceed with great caution....See Morecan someone with photoshop help me out?
Comments (2)You can get a mantle mount for the tv above the fireplace. That's what we did. When down, it's at the perfect height. The only disadvantage is you can't have the fireplace going at the same time....See Morepainted antique gold fireplace surrounds
Comments (6)Not sure if the surround is painted or metal in the photo. Am pretty sure you could achieve at least a similar look with paint but I would be sure to use a high heat paint rated for use near an open flame. You could probably achieve this look by using a stenciling brush and applying several coats of colors that are very similar but different enough to give a mottled effect. I wouldn't cover the surround surface completely with each layer but in a "splotchy" matter and would build layers upon each other. That should give you a nice mottled, aged look. Good luck...See MoreDesign help for fireplace surround
Comments (7)Thanks everyone for your suggestions! M Brown, I didn't think about the TV being over the fireplace. It is a working fireplace, but we never use it, so that shouldn't be an issue. decoenthusiaste, our adjoining space is a light smoky blue, and I agree, the blue and brown look great together. We are still playing around with colors but haven't found that "wow" combination. If anyone has thoughts on what to do with those bump-out areas, please let me know. Thanks!...See MoreUser
