Possible to put slide-out trash under farmhouse sink?
Comments (4)Usually a farmhouse sink is about 10" or so tall, the cabinet is roughly 30" so, that's about 18" to 20" of height. Not much to work with, but do-able. You might want to check out IKEAfans.com. It's a message board that has a lot of adaptable ideas in their Modifications board. Check out the link. It is a scanned picture from an older book Better Homes and Gardens Kitchen Idea File published in 2003. It looks like they connected the two doors to make a single solid door and made a type of large pull out drawer. Good luck! Comments (13)I'm mostly looking for something side mounted. Thought I could have that set up with the second container for extra garbage bags.......I plan to use a bathroom wastebasket under the farm sink. Bathroom wastebaskets are pretty small but it won't be a big deal to take it out every day or two. That's likely all that will fit?? Anyone know? If you have a farm sink, can you measure the door height for me? Maybe I will have to put it somewhere else. plllog, if I search for Blum hardware I might find this? I did see one at rev-a-shelf for a hundred bucks. I'm thinking I can make one for a lot less. Unless the drawer slides are more than I think. It does feel good to be down to garbage placement and light fixture refurbishers though!I remember when floor plan #1 looked good. Now I am on either #5 or #6....See MoreBlanco Silgranit Sink--is there room for trash under sink?
Comments (6)Cathy, the trash can is a 35 qt. According to the specs. It is Width: 14-3/8" Depth: 10-1/2" Height: 17-7/8" I have it under the larger portion of the sink. I have a garbage disposal under the smaller basin. There is not much room for anything else under the sink as you can see in this photo. I still am glad I have the pullout. I also have the cutting board that fit the sink. ( if you get one, be sure to check online sites. It was considerably cheaper than through the plumbing supply store). As I said on a previous post. I can stand at the sink with the trash container pulled out, chop on the cutting board and put things that don't go in the disposal right into the trash. My dishwasher is to the right of the sink so I can stand in the middle, scrape to the disposal or trash and then load dishwasher to the right. My dish and pots/pan drawers are across from the sink. I have enough aisle width to have the drawers and the trash pullout and dishwasher fully open at the same time. Works great for me....See Morewhy not pull out trash under sink?
Comments (29)MaWizz - I'm betting, especially if you go for an offset drain (I love mine) your disposal could be on the side of the sink that the trash/recycling pullout is not. yes thats what i.m thinking to by the pics you all are posting. yeah i'm thinking i might like that alot based on the fact that it is my one and only sink. i can leave dirty dishes to one side and still have drain open on other to rinse veggies, drain pasta, etc. is yours a 30" sink then since you have a 30" cabinet? pretty space...nice job! looks very inviting and comfortable. thx for sharing pics!...See MoreNancy Carey
